In Need of Power for the XP

Im looking for a good setup for my XP, i cant decide whether i should buy a pipe/can/y-pipe or if I should get a different clutch setup. I want to spend around 500 bucks but i want to have big gains over stock. give me some input to help me decide what I should buy for my sled this year

from riding our sleds in 07-08 the biggest gains were HP not clutching--not that clutching isnt important but clutch all you want but sleds with big bore or heads were noticebly better on the deep powder days:eek:---my 09 is getting a SLP pipe:D

Without good clutching the rest doesn't. Your gains will be as big as your wallet. What year XP are you talking about. If it is an 09 then it's too early to know what is good and what is lacking.

its a 2008 XP 154. i was thinkin putting a head on it but then again, if the clutching is off then im not even getting the power to the ground so thats why i was thinking I should mess with the clutch first

any motor or pipe changes will require clutch changes so doo the clutch last

What power gains and weight loss does slp claim for their pipe on the 09 xp?

I put an RKT head on mine last year and that was a big inprovement. Did clutching and a can as well. It ran very good. I'm doing a 860 this year so the head is for sale if someone wants it want it. RKY also has a remap through the doo race department that would be good as well. Check the website 2strokeheads.com

Why would you sell the head:confused: You have to use it with his 860, I know I have one.

I will have clutch settups for the '08 Xp's available this fall. We saw impressive gains over stock clutching last year....and of course better belt life. :beer;

i think im going to buy a head for it, then im going to buy either a can or get my clutch setup correctly

hehe...head and clutch....cuz otherwise, its a waste to do the head in the first place.

if its between can n clutching....do clutching. if u ever do a can later, you shouldn't need to do much recluctching other than POSSIBLY clicker.

I have a BD Nitrous kit that is for sell.:D That oughta do the trick!

I have the RKT head with an HPS can. It DID make a difference, I was at least 5 sled lengths ahead of similar setup XPs (cept that they didn't have the head) Seriously considering the SLP pipe combo. I gotta call SLP and see what they say about it.

My clutched xp seams to run better then most others. Made a big difference actually. Gotta keep your revs in check too.

Quick clickers are a must!

I geared my 163 down a tooth too which helped with belt temperature.
