In case you missed it, 500" Elk killed in UT

Man, that thing is massive!

So is that considered a "non-typical"? Or does that just apply to deer? (Not much of a hunter, but a huge hunting advocate)

Yes it is considered non typ, and yes it was killed with the govenors tag which he bought at the banquet for 170 K's. Shoot on the Monroe unit if any of you were wondering

Wayne found it and had Denny within 550 yards about 2 weeks ago but he didn't feel comfortable with that long of a shot, then they lost it and refound it 3 days ago and Denny put on about a 450 yard shoot to take it down. It was killed about 9 miles from where the crew saw it in the summer

That is a Huge Bull! I still don't respect the high Dollar "hunters". If I had that kind of money to throw around I'd have a trophy room full of monster animals too! Now, if it had been any one of us that had shot that big boy after many hours of hiking, scouting and packing, I'd be very impressed.

Hunting is supposed to be a challenge.

What's with these Governor Tags pulling in these big bulls?
What's the correlation?

I'm pretty sure he shoots a warbird, I ran into him 2 years ago down on the Henry's hunting deer and it was a custom gun but i thought it was a war bird. And Adrenaline Junkey, it was takin in central utah on the Monroe Unit. A unit more known as a 380'' bull unit. It hadn't really had that upper 400" level until obviously this year...

Not much different than high fence hunting IMO. Anyone could have shot that
on public land, just toss in $170k to the gov'na and another hundy-k to Mossback to make dang sure that bull don't leave this public unit all summer.

Ok now heres a question up for debate...

Would you rather shoot that freak 500" or a clean typical that scores 450"

Here are the 2006 and 2007 Govenor tag bulls from Utah, both in the mid 440"s

First pic is the 06 bull, shoot on the Book Cliffs unit

Video is of the 07 bull that was later shoot by jimmy ryan on the Pahvant unit, and you can also see on mossback's website. In the video at the very start it is the second one back from the front and it shows it good at the end of the clip. Its not the one with the Cheater sticking out, its the giant typical with long tines.

Ok now which bull would you shoot out of the three:D I personally would take the Book Cliff bull if i had the choice, best looking bull ever killed in my opinion

when it comes to a rack that i'm gonna put on the wall, big and knarly is what I want... nice 'typical' racks look pretty, but have no character... gimme a big nasty rack anytime

As a tax payer I have to say to the people that pay big bucks to shoot an elk in my state, "For you I am greatfull".

Thanks wasnt sure where the monroe unit was

I'd like to see them score that typically just for chits and giggles. I bet it would still go 400. What do ya think boys?
