If you had $3 to $4k....

i have to tottally agree on the m7 my friend bought one in 06 ans since then he has put over 3000 very hard miles on it and he has not had a single break down on this sled. The onlt thing he has replaced is the bushings in the A arms.Just fuel oil and go like hell!

M7 for sure

The 06s are put together a lot nicer from what I've seen. At least compared to the 05.

I personally don't know anyone that hasn't had motor problems with a REV 800. Probably have talked to about dozen people with problems. And stay away from the 07. They are worst.

I personally think the M is much better mountain chassis then the Edge. Had an 03, and it was a good sled but no were near as easy to throw around compared to the M.

I had an 03 EDGE RMK 700, an 06 M7 LE 162 and now a 09 M8 162 Sno Pro. I'm sold on the M chassis.

Hey thank you all for your help, Sounds like alot of M7 fans out there, I'll have to look into them here in a couple of weeks when people start moving them out for summer.

Thanks again!

my dad has an 07 stock 800r and has 2,005 miles on it and has had no problems. nothing upgraded or anything just pure stock!!!

Thats a good price, but if you have the choice go for an 06 and less miles. Its coming to the end of the season, you may be able to find one with less miles for around $4k.

Also, add some $$$ to your budget to get a high rise seat, either a Boss or 2010 style.

Good luck...

edit... this 06 has 1/2 the miles, boss seat and simmons skis

Get the REV. Lots of parts, easy to ride. They had their issues but they are easily fixed. The rider forward is nice. The REV will out perform an M7, I honestly don't think you can find an M8 in that range. I honestly would rather have the REV over and M8 myself.

I would say REV 800. Stock for stock it will have a lot more snap than the M7. Both sleds are great. I think you would find a stock m7 lacking bottum end. Ride both and see what you like.

If you can't find a newer M but come across an Edge 700 that's not all beat up, buy it.

Best trouble free pull & go sled out there for the price.

I'd like a rev, but Honestly can not find many under 4k without a boatload of miles or pretty crappy condition. I've found multiple M7's for 3-4k in great condition. And I understand it might be a little bit better sled, but again, the main purpose to this sled is for ski access. Not going to be a full time riding machine.

If you're serious about skiing and skiing only I'd recommend staying away from any sled that might be fun to ride. For that reason alone you should not in any way shape or form purchase either an M7 or a REV. Stay away from any newer sleds as well.

I speak from experience on this subject. Five years after buying an 04 REV I now have to acknowledge the fact I am a sledder first and foremost. My snowboard was ridden twice last year and has not been brought of out it's storage bag this year.

The sled I'd recommend you buy is an Arctic Cat 1M 900. Make sure it has a boss seat (they all should by now) and a riser. It will go everywhere, will easily double you and your friends up most any hill, from all accounts is virtually a bombproof motor, and sucks to ride. Anyone care to disagree??

This could just be this one sled in particular but my buddy has one and is shopping for an M. The older chassis is much harder to throw around and it seems comparable to a 700 in terms of where it will go/what it will do.

If I had the budget of the OP I would definitely be looking at a Rev or a M7/M8. I prefer the M chassis but I've seen those older Revs do some impressive things.

Keep looking. I just found a 06 Summit X with 2500miles. 500 miles on a fresh motor(maintenance, not needed) with a SLP Perf Kit, Simmons skis, 162 CE, Nextech CF front end and wheel kit. For 6g CND. I know if you keep looking you'll find something. Do you want it for the rest of the season cause most parts of the continent are in fullblown spring. Hold off a little longer. Just don't wait till September cause prices will start to creep back up.
I've put on another 700miles so far and haven't done a thing but fill her up and ride the piss outta her!
