If you dont pay a ticket in another state can they suspend your license?

Got a bogus fricken ticket in AZ and thinkin about not paying it. All I ever do is drive through a 20 mile stretch every once in a while. But can they do anything to me? I know in the "olden days" you used to could just let them put out a warrant but dont know if in this day of internet and stuff if they have made it more national.

About 45 of 50 states belong to the Interstate Compact. Not only do the tickets follow you, if a member state suspends your license privileges for failure to appear on a traffic citation, all other member states suspend as well.

That's why a box of doughnuts in the vehicle when traveling out of state can come in handy.

Bad cop no doughnut

My advise. Pay the ticket. or .... to compete with 440.. Handcuff him to your self and drive off.

I once got a ticket for trespassing in a state park and refused to pay it ! How can you trespass on public property ? Anyway about 5 years later when pulled over for a seat belt I got arrested ! the judge tossed it out because how can you trespass in a state park? but I still went to jail and still had to pay the bail! Pay the ticket!

They can inconvience the hell out of you. Require that you file a certificate of financial responsibility (SR-22) from your insurance company. Your insurance probably will not file the SR-22 they want showing Arizona on it because the policy is written in another state and will only file it in the state you are resident and the policy is written in. Arizona isn't too bad but California has a tendency of being a-holes. If your DL is for AZ then pay it or it will haunt you in the future when you try to renew your new state DL. I work in the insurance bus and have dealt with DL issues across state lines several times. I do recall on guy from IL that moved from AZ that had surrendered his AZ lic something like 6-8yrs prior and AZ had it down for suspension. So when IL went to renew his license it showed he had a suspended AZ license. Got it cleared up but it was a major inconvienience for the guy.

Canada won't let you in if they find out about it.

Thats no chit even years later in was nearly refused entry due to this same charge ! I also met the BIGGEST EH' HOLE Canadian border worker ever!I am surprised I did not a cavity search !

I got a speeding ticket in California back in 93. Didn't even look back just figured they'd forget about it. Went to renew my Mt. license in 96 and they made me clear up the Cali. ticket first. So My advice is pay it before you have an extra 200.00 or so tacked on Like I did!!!

Almost forgot, some states in the last couple years have been turning their unpaid fines over to collections or filing judgments (texas is one I think, not sure though). That would be fun to discover on your credit report the next time you go apply for credit or background check for a new job application.

Freak

Do you have pre paid legal?? This is where it pays for them. They will keep the ticket off your record--even if you have to pay for it. And no court apperance needed with them--they do it for ya.

My advice from many years of such things many-many years ago (when it was much easier to skate by).

PAY IT and be done with it!!

It will cause you more in greif that it is worth.

H20SKE...

There is the Drivers License Compact and the NRVC (Non Resident Violators Compact). Unfortunantly for you Arizona is a member of both. So if you don't pay it, the state of Arizona will notify the state you have your license out of. Your resident state will then suspend your license, and you will not be able to get a valid drivers license until you take care of the citation. You will also not want to go back to Arizona as they will most likely have a Failure to Appear warrant out for you.

The easiest solution is to just pay the ticket. If you think your innocent use your right to have a trial.
