If you didn't ride a M series, what would you ride?

I had that engine in my MSRX with Power INC pipes, oval bored carbs and high compression heads. That sled rocked!

Im surprised by the number of tnytros and apexs people are saying. The power to weight ratio is a nice one on those turbo 4 strokers but I guess it still surprises me a little bit. What is holding people back from riding one now...is it the price tag of them once you get them set up right with the turbo and almost always new skid that holds people back?

i rode doos for along time, hence the screen name. i switched and rode a mixture of doos and yamahas from 2000-2008. bought the nytro mtx's once they came out, and i had buku 2 stroke issues that year (all self inflicted).

rode the nytro and hated it, too twitchy, too rider foward, hand wamers sucked, ect... i threw way more money at it than i should have, to try to make it better and meet my riding style. everytime somone came out with something that said this will make it better, i bought it (after research). still couldnt make myself happy in that chassis.

i LOVED THE MOTOR AND POWER DELIVERY PERIOD!!!! if i could have been airlifted in and out of the play areas without any trail riding at all, i would have never sold it. but, i couldnt take it anymore, and started researching.

it was a toss up... i didnt want a rider forward sled so, in all essance the xp and new yams were out of the picture. i did try to make a few deals on used and left over xp's, and came close a few times with no real luck on the follow through. the warrantee, motor, clutching, track issues scared me honestly and i am a dootalk moderator.

was close on the rmk's, the price was great, however the fit and finish turned me off. wasnt sure if i could be happy on a 600 either. couldnt find a left over 700 or a new 700as no dealers in michigan care to stock mountain sleds. so, i gave up quickly on them.

read alot on here, and other net forums, magazines ect... talked to ALOT of nice folks about their choices, and went for the M8, decided to buy left over to save a few pennies. the wife was on the fence about me going back to 2 strokes, but she read what i read, and then wanted one too. and it just so happens the guy that bought my nytro, his sister wanted my wifes. so we sold them both, and bought 2 09 M8 153 sp's.

havent rode them yet, they have some fitting quirks and stuff i need to take care of yet but, what sled doesnt??? looking forward to trying them out in about 4 weeks. hopefully it will be at high elevation in wyoming. LOL! ski

^^^All of the above. Price. Never rode one so I'm not sure I would like it!

After riding with a Yamaha I would never buy one!!! My friend has a supercharged Apex for sale if you want one. He is going to a light weight two stroke. They are just to dam heavy even when they are huffed. Unless you want to spend $10,000 on lightening those things up. And when they get stuck, they SUCK to get out!!! I would say XP if not an M.

For what it is worth I would be riding a M if I was not a RMK guy. Who knows, we'll have to see what cats new platform in 2012 looks like. That new 800 has me checkin out the cat forum quite a bit.

I'm a little surprised how many people are saying turbo Nytros. I have ridden boosted RX-1s, boosted Apexs and a few stock Nytros. I'm with Ski, the Nytro was just too dang twitchy for my tastes. Sometimes wanting is much more appealing than having!

My RX-1 is completley done minus a turbo. I just can't get myself to potentially destroy the reliability of such an awesome running sled. I have spent the last 5 seasons working on turbo glitches in the mountains when we should have been riding.
From my considerable dealings with turbos, I'm thoroughly convinced that a turbo is merely a gateway drug. I have seen completely normal guys turn into raving lunatics with boost. Pretty soon it's no longer "if you have a turbo" but, "how much boost are you running"? How much race gas are you running?

Now if two stroke turbos turn out to be reliable over the long term this time around, having a lightweight sled with a turbo might be a kick.

i'd like to try the new cat sno pro chassis extended to be a long track. the small motor kind of sucks but i bet that would be a fun sled. if that not that, then a dragon. my third choice would be a 600 etec xp with some boost. the 860 kit is very low on the hp so i think the 600 with a huffer would be my choice if i HAD to ride an xp.
