Identity issues....

Well folks, by most accounts, I'm new to sleds. I've had one for just over 3 1/2 years. But i've always had 'Cats. I started with 153, then went to a 162 when my wife took the 153. They have treated us VERY well. :)

I won't bore you with all the details, but it may be time for a new(to me) sled, and I'm considering either the M8, or D8.

right now, the D8 is leading, with other riders' opinions that I ride with, but im more familiar with the M. The D reverse is a better plan, and i've got a good dealer close to me.

What's the feedback? I feel like I need a bit more power, but I don't want to sacrifice reliability. I want a 162/163 track, and I like the D8 saddle, tunnel and reverse designs better. I want to stick with used, but not more than a couple years.

thanks in advance

Cc, that's a ummm interesting statement. But it takes all types to make the world go round.

LMAO

Ride the Dragon before you buy one. It's a love it or hate it chassis. Personally I think the M8 is hands down a better mountain chassis. Dragon definately nicer on the roads/bumps.

Hey Paul, you should give more explanation for your answer...especially since you ride a Doo!! :D (alot of it also depends on how you define mountain riding).

I have tried them all, and for me the D8 fit best, the older Cats had the low seat and handle bars. The improvements on the 2010 M8 would make me consider one. The seat is improved, they now have the PERC reverse, and supposedly more power, time will tell on that though.

If not the 2010 M8, Then it sounds like the Poo for you, It all comes down to a big money game. And can you stand to be second for a yr? Too me as long as it runs for the season and doesn't cost me a bundle, The better off you are!

MG

I love both mine and my dads Polaris's. The Polaris is a easy chassis to get use to, and is a dream off trail. It diffidently rides very well down the trail to the rig. IMO it is easier to control the the cat, and has good reliable power. Never had an engine problem all year, with either my dads stocker and my brother's turbo. Good sled IMO, and especially if you have a good reliable dealer who is willing to work with you nearby.

It just creates too much hate and hostility when I say what I really think about the Dragons. ;) And yes, we had one last year...stock and on boost.

Man, they're both great sleds, I ride a cat and absolutely love it, but if I had a better poo dealer nearby I sure wouldn't be afraid of one,

I came off a 05 m7 and tried a friends xp and dragon before ending up with a 09 M8. Also the friend with the dragon came off an 05M7 and has a 10M8 on order. The dragon was my second choice and like above the trail manners are better. Power seems the same as my 09. Reverse on the 09M8 is the same as perc. I think the M is more nimble and predictable which is why I went that way. Id try and get seat time on both they are real close IMO and just boils down to prefernce.

I liked the Dragon, over the cat, but the cat's bars were too low.,
The only thing I think they need improvement on is the need for tools to check your belt. Also the plastic vents that pop out, and the crack prone windshield design. The ride of the Dragon was an easy thing to get comfortable with.
