Ideas for filming 5th year of BOOST.

Just received boost four in the mail the other day and it was awesome! Now in my opinion the reason why boost is the only sled movie on my list each year is because i want to see the local spots that i ride and those boosted yammies! I agree on the whats under the hood idea but would like to see it as a bounus option, the reason for that is i buy this movie to see some gnarly riding not a whole lot of talking(always room for funny sh#t tho). The music has been good but that is just my opinion. Keep up the good work and im sure boost five will be unreal just like the rest!

more ladies riding those heavy 4 strokes,

more footage, and it doesn't even have to be cut to perfection, just throw it in the extras and let us soak it in

Would love to see how the fug you guys get off some of those chutes when you get to the top. The ones you ride down and maybe get lifted off.

A couple years you asked this question and I requested more of yamaho, but to my dismay I have yet to see any more of her LOL See what you can do.

for the record, I have no prob with you adding some of the other brands, will no doubt help you sell more vids. The cream will no doubt rise to the top like it has in the Thunderstruck vids and the sleds that can perform will be the ones you will film (at least in the near future that will be heavy on the 4 strokers, so your loyalty won't be questioned LOL)

Well it's obvious by the title that the film is based on turbo charged sleds. For the first few years it was based solely on the four stroke theme, but with advances in technology and some great turbo builders out there, the 2 stroke turbo sleds are really taking off !!

SO ! , I want 2-stoke turbo sled footage. I want Cats, Doo's, and Poo's turbo charged and ready to climb, boon, and hit the snorkle-deep pow.

Walking around these sled shows give me so many great ideas, and there are so many awesome vendors that deserve to have their creations exposed to the public that want and need this innovative technology !

Now that we have the 2-stroke / four stroke idea out of the way, the question is, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN A SLED FILM ?

More like, what would you want to see in MY sled film ?

More narration ?
More behind the scenes ?
More tech ?
More product ?
More riding ?
More comedy ?
More areas and zones ?
More terrain ?
Longer overall movie ?
shorter movie ?
heavy music ?
tech music ?
no music ?
more photos ?
more tree riding ?
Deep pow ?
Spring snow ?

there ought to be a hundred more questions, but I'll let you ask them.
There are no stupid answers, so dont be shy. I'm intrigued to know what the watching public wants to see.

Thanks in advance for all your answers !:beer;:face-icon-small-hap

Little more narration, More behind, more tree riding for sure, more deep snow,
way more carnage after the sleds stop endoing, what kind of damage so we can see the dollar signs.
Still love the movies.

Just my two penny's

if the 2 stroke market gets involved how about some comparison on nice deep days on a nice open hill, now that would be cool and real life stuff too, always like to see which sled can climb higher in deep fluff [which isnt real high if snow is deep enough] that would be real cool to watch and poke your buddy about . ive brought this up with other movie makers also, the hero sno climbs get old, this is why you have the leading edge always nice soft snow.

i would like to see if you can cook faster with a muff-pot on a turbo'd sled? you know more power more heat.

* More ladies on sleds ~ including Yamaho, I'll see what I can wrangle up.

* Deep pow comparasins ~ a little shoot-out between boosted sled types ? hmm, maybe. I don't want any pizzin matches. We are all out there to have fun. We'll see about that one...

* Muff pot cook-off ~ kinda hard to find room under the hood or seat to mount a muff pot on a turbo. All I know is that when you ride it at night there is a nice red glow coming from under there, so I bet it would cook fast. You better flip your roast in a hurry !

* narration and behind the scenes ~ another vote for the ever popular gum flappin. I think this should be a sound option to be able to turn the narration on or off along with the music. I'll have to give Steve-o a call and get him primed up with some Jagermeister shots.

All good ideas , duly noted.

keep em coming !:beer;:face-icon-small-hap

I think one of your really early videos posted online had a camera mounted off to the right of the right ski and pointed back at the sled and rider.
That is still my favourite sledding shot yet and I haven't seen it anywhere else. I don't buy a lot of videos so this may be around more than I know.

It may not have been one of your videos or maybe pre-boost since I believe it was on a rev.

Your films have amazingly long segments. Stick with that. I hate the short segments done in rapid fire.

Throw in a bit of current avy info on the hills the riders are about to ride. People might as well learn something.

When someone bites it, show it again with a freeze frame and an animated illustration of what went wrong, where the rider could/should have gone. This is where you could add some comments/jabs from the other riders. The re-play!

Dont spoil the feature with too much Narration and ego stroking. lol Some short self introductions would be alright. I'd include a little bit of footage from well set up two strokes (a little bit
moon.gif
), and some 1200 skidoos, some pretty sick ones being built, I like the footage of multiple riders booning in deep and just ****in around in the trees in the deep. I think cat and mouse footage in the deep is fun to watch:beer;:beer;:beer;. Some new terrain would be a nice change, Boulder is played out, although still impressive to watch and participate live
div20.gif
. Some footage a little farther west would be sweet. Something new and unpredictable would be cool, I still think the 4 stroke tbos and deep sunny pow are your bread & butter. I dont like the single exposure footage as much, I liked when you use to have 3 guys listed per chapter and then mixed footage of them. Also like the footage from the top of the chutes, fun to watch the sleds coming up. In the chutes footage is cool too but too dangerous 4 u.

Kind of missed seeing the Irmen/Earl/Gibbs footage, they are fun to watch, understand they didnt ride much. I think you have always been on to something great with the big power, deep powder and the best part about your films is not blowing each other the whole film;). I say go for a couple of two stroke tbos MIXED IN if you can get some well set up sleds and good riders. I think as long as you can keep things fresh you will keep everyone interested. My favorite footage on B4 was Laird shredding the pow, you need some more of his faceshot booning. :beer;

Different riding areas would be kickass. What about showcasing different places? Valemount, Golden, Blue River, etc? Veedy on the road?

Good luck :beer;:beer;

That footage of the Rev was a bunch of shots I did of myself. I was experimenting with on sled camera angles. I had a Rev 800 back then. I should dig up that old footage, it was pretty good, come to think of it !

That was Some Good Shots back then, I agree with Him. It hasn't really been done before. You Need to Do more Tree Riding and More Avy Stuff, To explain What conditions you are Ridin in the Chutes. And Talkin About Turbo's You need to Talk to Shane Hart with HM Turbos about Climbing,He Builds and Rides all his Own Turbo's Sled's. And They Are a Polaris, I have a 800 Dragon with a 66 Series, W/Intercooler/ Ez Ryde and All the Trick Stuff and Man does It Rip, And Need to Be alittle bit Longer of Video's. And you need to Be the First to film a Girl that would Go over the Top of Monster...I have a friend in Boise that would Do it and I have the Sled to Loan Her with the Horse Power...lol

I'm probably going to get shyt for this but oh well.

Obviously you can't make ONE video to appease or please the entire sled owning audience. So that being said, here's my own personal take on them.

(Here's my Burt Reynolds in Boogie Nights speach) How many sledvid makers are there out there anyways? We have one group that is called Sledporn... and that to me pretty much sums it up. Most sledvids I have seen in the past 5 years are jerkoff vids. (now there's a time and place for everything!) So a person throws the vid in and is blasted with 50 images in 10 minutes of the craziest shyt ever done on a sled. After awhile, you feel like you aint ridin' unless you climb everest and once you reach the top cornice drop that bytch back to sea level. Kinda like you aint bonin a chick proper til you got japanese twins vomiting in each others mouths (thanks south park) playboy jus doesnt do it anymore!

Anyhow, I know that the Extreme Team is making films again, and they came from Gravity Meltdown. One "vid" I remember from them that was very close to a "film" was Gravity Meltdown 2(or3?) Road Trip. This vid was like a "lifestyle" type thing. Sure, it had great sledding action, but by today's standards of insanity and stunting, it isn't the same. (But tell me watching the vid doesn't make you want to ride)

I dunno, I just think of Warren Miller out there every year he makes a ski film and its obviously got unreal footage, but its more about the lifestyle of skiers, ski bums, pro's, ams... etc. We got people that their entire lives are sleds (ski bums?) It's these people that it would be cool to see a lifestyle "film" about, not just hardcore riding, but hardcore sled-life. Show their shops, what they do work wise to reach the snow, interviews, sled specs...

I'm rambling now but oh well.

Like Burt said in Boogie, they come in and jerk off and leave in 5 minutes... what I want is for them to sit in it and wait for the ending.

Maybe this is out there already? I gave up trying to keep up with all the vidmakers years ago. The cool thing is the more the film gets into the local scene the cooler it would be to see the vids coming from different areas.

Warren Millers music is great, narration great, stories great, featured skiers great at their sport and great characters to boot, wrapped into a theme for the film.

No shyte to be given here. In most respects, I agree with you. ( 'specially about the vomiting twins.. yummy ! ) The whiz bang " filmmakers" of past are really just glorified handy cam users who know where the zoom toggle is and can splice something together on their home peecee. By studying films of other genre's such as mountain bike films, and even some skater fliks, you can see the creativity ooze from the edges of your flatscreen. In order to satisfy the visual stimulous of today's viewer, we need this ( creativity ). Humans are funny animals. We crave all of our senses to be raped at the same time ( If smell-o-vision were invented we could pump in some pine scent and 2-stroke smoke, lol ) .
I have been watching Warren Miller fliks since Jesus was a baby. Every year about this time, the colder damp nights, and the smell of snow in the air... I couldn't sleep nights waiting for the new WM movie to be released and hit the movie theatre. It was like pure por n to see the ski bums cutting fresh pow. Too bad Mr. Miller sold to his son, who then sold again and the company has changed so many hands it's like a 2 bit whore now. Poor Warren doesnt even have control over his own name anymore.

The bottom line is this ~ people are all different and have varying levels of tolerance and expectations. You can't please 100% of the viewers 100% of the time. BUT, producers who listen to the viewing public, can make a damn good effort to get there.

Speaking for the viewing public...we appreciate the producers who listen and make the effort. Your stuff has always been top notch, if you continue to try new things and look for ways to improve you'll remain one of the top producers in this industry.

To me good filming is as important as good riding. A sick shot is ruined by a shaky camera or crappy zooming. Good editing is just as important and I don't mean downloading some songs off myspace and adding fancy transitions with imovie.

Narration and rider interviews are only a good idea if they're not boring. A hill climbing video comes to mind here.

Deep snow is always a plus.

Longer video. More deep pow boonin'. No hero snow. Less "f" bombs. I don't mind the f'ing with the guys myself, but wives and kids are watching ;)
Nice stunt on the trailer ramp, LOL

Veedy, I'll be straight up honest, the Boost vids I have only seen the 4 min. intro's here and there. So I am not going to critique or judge your vids. What of them I have seen are impressive.

Guess I'm just saying that every year there's about 10 hours of video footage released by 10-15 different vid makers. Slednecks is mostly this style, Roops another, Sledporn, MMM, Boost, Team Summit, etc all have a certain type of riding that dominates their vids.

Just thought there's SO much sled footage out there it would just be cool to see a "movie" or "film" type thing in like already stated, a WM or even Endless Summer deal. There it is, Endless Winter, 4 guys travel around to find epic riding wherever they go, these are the real people (who are characters in their own right) and the ends they go to to ride. This is their sleds, the work they put into them, interviews of the "experience" etc.

I just think it would be such a departure to seperate itself from other "vids" I mean, I can get a non skier to watch a WM film... but there's no way I could get a non sledder to watch MMM! no offense to MMM.

All in all, it's all good. Just trying to think of what hasn't really been done. All that great footage in the vids is just getting lost in the vast ocean of other footage I guess.

OH Veedylicious..... I found some boost happiness in my mail box today :)... Mucho gracias little buddy :beer;!!! Man its gonna be hard to top that one, it made me laugh lots, and gave me goosebumps. But yep I gotta agree, lets see some Veedsterooski clips, and lots of that wonderful boonshmockin stuff!! The quirky effects.... perfecto, music... muy bueno, Render-izims always a knee slapper!!!! Dude keep up the good workie work!!!!! :D

I can finally reply as I received my DVD's and got to watch them. :) Nicely done! :face-icon-small-coo You keep getting better and better.

Longer.......YES! Not just for your video's, but others as well, I feel more like I'm getting my monies worth if it's at least an hour without the extras. I do like and want the extras too, but adding more to the main video makes me feel like my money is going farther.

2 stroke Turbos.......YES! I think I *may* have mentioned this to you before. ;)

Lady riders (actually riding and not just doing the *beauty* shots).......YES!

Maybe in the extras have Lori give some avy tips/info. Show how easy it is to check snow layers in a trench a sled has made (we all know how deep those things can be). Show doing a beacon check before taking off for the day's ride. Would like to see the decision making process that goes on before doing some of the climbs. From the Avy point of view, and from that day's conditions (flat/poor light, snow too soft, too trenched out....all the way to perfect conditions). That promotes that out to anyone that sees it, to not just go "try this at home", but to use their head.

Powder riding......YES! :face-icon-small-hap Love seeing the over the hood pow, downhill carving, rider in a whiteout of snowdust, deep powder boondocking. :face-icon-small-coo

Different riding areas, that would be nice. You can have some great places up there, would be nice to see more of them. :)

While nice to watch some climbing, it's nice how you mix it up with different types of riding. Just watching climbing for a whole vid, well, I can't do it. :o I NEED to see the whole mix of it. For the climbing parts, it is great how you do some filming from the top.

You do great work, and it continues to get better. I obviously agree with a lot of what's been said. I look forward to next year's film!! :beer;

....ME in the starring role as POW Master......

"Now that we have the 2-stroke / four stroke idea out of the way, the question is, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN A SLED FILM ?"

Veedy,

Seriously - you do great work and props to you for feeling out the market ahead of time. It's very telling that the people who are on top of their game are always the ones soliciting feedback, criticism and different viewpoints. It speaks volumes to me. Good luck and good hunting (for POW.)

Sincere,

Stovey
