Idaho City Grooming

idaho city ride

Three of us rode sunday the 21st out of whoopem-up {we were the only sleds in the parking lot} up to the end of the grooming area past Jackson peak. Spent all day and never saw anyone else, still bottomless powder and very easy to get stuck in.
We now have a calander up on the Boise Club web site and are doing the Idaho City grooming reports from there.

Have they groomed east of Whoopem Up?

grooming

Wade they may groom up from whoopem-up to summit flat in the next couple of days. And yes it is groomed all the way to the grahamn turn around and also up the hill on crooked river road to the top of the summit where the little owl loop comes out.

Rode out of Whoop Um Up towards Jackson today, about 2 foot of fresh on the groomed trail. Away from the trail the snow is starting to get some base to it however there is still stumps and rocks to be found which I'm sure my good buddy 76FOMOCO will confirm for me....:D

does it have to be like this :(

Your right, that was inconsiderate of me. I will work on keeping my big yap shut in the future.

Ok, enough of the pleasantries, its enough to make me hurl. You lean that little piggie down some more?

A lean sled is a happy sled and will guide you clear of all stumps and rocks. I don't know how it works, its like good karma or some kind of horse****.....:D

Ah, you two have reached the fourth stage of friendship. Congratulations Now, it's time for someone to kick someone in the crotch. :)

Whoop Um Up Ride

Wife and I off loaded at Whoop-Um-Up yesterday and went East towards North Fork of the Boise river. Snow had a good crust on it. Has not been groomed since the last snow fall. Followed single tracks until the turn off to Jackson Peak. Tracks went North towards Jackson Peak and we went East towards the North Fork of the Boise River. We were stopped about 8 or 9 miles in by a couple of trees across the road. I gave it a half hearted try to get over the trees and gave up since first ride of the year and not that big of a deal to go forward. Only two trailers in parking lot and about 6 other vehicles. We stoped in a spot with a lot of sun and had lunch. Short trip but no one else except us.

downed trees on trail

Thanks acgreen for the info on the trees down i have passed that information on to the groomer coordinator so the guy's can keep a look out for them when they go out to groom.

Is this a good area to bring kids to. New to the Boise area. Are there any open area like in McCall and are there any trail maps ect. Thanks

maps and riding areas

Sacco we will have the trail map for idaho city on the new site in the near future, in the mean time you can find it on the old site by doing a search for the boise basin trail breakers. That site is not being updated but it still has some useful info on it.
As far as places for kids to ride on, there are quite a few but the snow conditions will have to settle down for a while first. Summitt flats, Thorne Creek butte and the area around Centerville to mention a few.

Malcomson Snowmobile Park

Sacco - If you want a place for kids to ride, try Malcomson Snowmobile Park on Hwy 20, NE of Mtn. Home, between the turnoff to Pine/Featherville and Hill City. It can be really cold there and even fog at times but if the weather is good it can't be beat. Large flat area to the North and riding for miles. If you want more advanced terrain the go farther North or even South across the Hwy 20.

Hey I heard a rumor sunday that the groomer is down again. Does anyone know? We went in from Mores Cr. and it was rough as hell. Whoop em up wasn't that bad. It would be nice to know. Thank you.:D

groomer

As of friday night it had been down 12/29,and 12/30 with an electrical problem that was fixed and had groomed up toward Jackson peak after that.
He also said something about a couple of bent grousers on the tracks, but that should be easy to fix.
I am expecting an update in the next couple of days i will post then.
