Id. city / mores creek / woop em' up

one more area that would also include Pilots peak and surrounding area. Good riding when the snow gets deep... this way we can share info on all the local areas. great idea and maybe help coordinate some sessions with new riders.

whoop em up

We rode out of there on the 23rd. Great snow if your willing to ride about 20 miles nice and deep I will try to get some pictures of it. The snow was waist deep and no one had ridden it at all.

Which area did you ride, and where did you park?

Got back a couple hours ago and it was awesome!!! We rode out of the mores creek summit lot towards pilots peak. The trail is getting rough but that is normal up there. Snow was 4 to 6 feet with good base. We were in 2 to 3 feet of powder. sometimes more. The snow was bonding good and didn't see any slides where we were. Didn't go all the way to the peak just played on the hills and meadows to the south. Watch the road up. It was icy.

just thought i would add a little tid bit here about the idaho city area, as the boise basin trailbreakers club is now inactive the boise snowmobile club voted to adopt the area and has been actively helping out with trail maintenance and repair of the groomer up there. so anyone who rides up there may want to participate in our fun run that will be on january 26 at the granite creek parking area. 1st place is $500.00 and pays down to 10th place. i will post more as we get closer to the date.

Rode today from the Mores Creek parking lot. Trail was normal. 4 corners was great for the 2 short tracks we had with us. Good snow but visibility wasn't the greatest with fog and gusts of wind blowing snow.

Overall a good day!

Fun Run - Idaho City - Saturday 1/26 - 9am.

I started a new thread for the Idaho City Fun Run - Saturday 1/26 - 9am. Sponsor of the event is the Boise Snowmobile Club(BSC). I don't want anyone to miss a chance to participate in the event. BSC is the sponsor of the Idaho City(Pilot Peak) groomer. Pilot Peak is the major winter sports area for the residents of the Treasure Valley. The groomer provides access to areas used by cross country skiers, snowshoe people, hikers, and snowmobiles. Your support is greatly appreciated. Idaho State Snowmobile Association (ISSA) membership applications will be available.

Pilot Peak is Groomed

Groomers are a high maintenance item. MANY man hours were put into that groomer last Summer. Hours were donated FREE by Boise Snowmobile Club members. On Tuesday I heard it was down again. Yes Dorothy, there is a groomer! I really date myself when I refer to Dorothy.

idaho city

oh boy it's almost time to head up for the fun run, several of the boise club members will be putting up signs and prepping for saturday's event tomorrow.
i also hear the groomer should be up and running for the weekend, so the trails should be great. hope to see you up there :D

idaho city groomer

wade you are correct on both accounts, our web guy is busy and is slow in keeping the sight up to date, we are working to fix that. and the groomer had cracked a hydraulic pump that they had to replace. it took a great effort by our groomer coordinator to find the pump and have it flown in and the operators to have the machine up and operating for the fun run. we were in idaho city friday night and was extremely pleased to see the machine leave idaho city about 7 pm, they groomed the creek trail ,our fun run trail and returned throught granite creek at about 1:30 am and continued back down bear run. it was a great effort and the fun run was a success thanks to everyone that participated and helped out.

You don't know how much me and my buddy appreciated the smooth trails a couple of weeks ago. We couldn't believe it. Hat's off to the crew.
