Icons of the sport

I cheated and "Googled" his name. 3 time world waterski champion. Also went to the finals or worlds in 9 other sports (rowing, bike, swimming, running, etc).

I gotta go with Andy Mapple as the icon of competitive slalom waterskiing.

All great announcers....every one of them!! I love when Keith Jackson would call some young college kid from Nebraska "hoss" or refer to the Michigan offensive linemen as "the big eaters".....doesnt get any better than that.

Another one of my very favorites is Paul Page.

As Indy Car went into thier death spiral one of thier many big mistakes they made was to cut ties with Paul Page. Page, along with some of his supporting cast, goes to NHRA and NHRA is booming.

I'm not an NHRA fan but sometimes I watch just to listen to Paul Page.....he's great.

One of my favorite lines of all times was when Al Jr. was commenting on Paul Page saying....."you're not the winner of the Indy 500 until Paul Page says you're the winner of the Indy 500"

Also loved Musberger with Billy Packer of years ago on CBS with Road to the Final Four. Classiest exit I ever saw was when he signed off from CBS for the last time after announcing the national championship game.....I thought Packer was going to cry.

Who's Gene Okerland?
