IceAge Rear Axle

First off, this axle is pretty sexy but I have some doubts about it.

I'm no engineer but while installing this axle I've noticed that it might not be stronger than the stock set-up.

1st pic- Look at the marks on the rails from the surface area of the old axle and now look at the bite on the rail the new axle has. Like 20% ???? Ewhhh!

2nd pic- Look at the two "spacer/washer" halves, they don't meet up there is at least a .04" gap and when you torque it down it seems as if its really pinching on the aluminum rail and if you think about it, it's really putting some torque on the bearings because it never bottoms out.

3rd pic- Again, the axle has sex appeal and that's the only reason I'm going to try it out. The IceAge axle is much smaller in diameter but that doesn't scare me because it's cnc.

no pic- but another issue I see is that the axle only extends into the rail about a third of the rail width where the stocker goes all the way.

If that gets loose for even a short amount of time, it's gonna chew up your rails in no time! Atleast it looks like possible to me...

I have been wrong once before!

I used the ice age axle on my old 09 Assault. I too had my doubts, but I had no problems with it over 1000 miles when I sold the sled. Hopefully yours works like mine. But yes, it had me thinking as well.
