Ice scratchers???

Looking for a set of ice scratchers for my '10 assault for the little bit of trail riding I do with the old guys. Anyone have any suggestions/ have experience with them? Preferably reverse friendly.

I was actually just reading topic on ice scratchers in Axys forum and a couple of guys use them with no problems. Couple of other I seen run duraflex.

It also depends on your snow type for what will work better for you. We have dry snow, so the cable scratchers work fine for me, but if you're on hard packed trails and glare ice, the spring type work better for cooling. There is no "best"!

Well that's good to know as this is first time looking into scratchers. We mostly have harder packed trails where we ride so the spring type would work better.

Looked a little more into the ice storms and haven't seen a bad thing about them. Probably what I will be going with.

We've switched to selling the Straightline Performance cable scratchers due to multiple crimping warranty issues with the other brand. So far no problems with the Straightline.

Ended up going with the ice storms from over the top. Where are these being mounted? Drilling own holes in rail or would they work inside bogey wheel?

I put mine inside the front bogeys. Had to clearance the inside of the wheel.
I ended up smashing off most of my bogies.. So I installed a longer snow flap for trail riding
Hifax last about 500miles
No overheating

If your new scratchers are 1/4" rod you can thread the ends of them and put on a coupler nut with a little blue Locktite, then you have a replaceable wear surface:face-icon-small-win

Yea I read that you could take off the bogey wheel and put the scratchers there, but this year will probably be 60/40 off/on trail and I believe being that much on trail with bogey off will wear hyfax a lot more.

Ended up using a stock hole in the rail and just drilled another hole more forward. Need 2 holes using the Ice storms. They hold up on the rail nicely and hopefully aren't too far back on the rail. We'll see
