I want to switch out the motor on a Elan 250

I enjoy having this sled around the cabin but it always seems to overheat. Is this normal for this sled and has anyone found any fixes for the problem. I was thinking of just putting a new motor in the machine. Has anyone done this and what motor would you put in.

wowser the last time I gripped a 250 Elan twin deluxe..I think I was 11 or something ..shes all air cooled ...if its overheating it aint gettin enough air I would assume...try jettin and or fuel oil mixture course if it was too lean it would probably just burndown ..

they were fan cooled, the belt should be visible on the mag side of the motor. check for proper operation, try cleaning out the fins around the head with compressed air. maybe the meeses have the cowling around the head full of shrapnel, you should be able to feel air blowing out the side above the primary. I've seen natives up here driving elans on the gravel in the summertime out on the reserve....pulling an upside down car hood with a deer on it no less.....
