yes its true

After several years of carrying the Contour torch I broke down and got the new GoPro Hero2. I cannot say enough great things about the unit. The quality of picture is amazing. You can change alot of the settings getting just the look you want. I also got the LCD backpack so I can see exactly what I am shooting on the mountain.

Modified my brim so I could get a good mount location without having the camera too high on my lid.

picked up several other mounts inlcuding my favorite...the chest/strap mount.

here is a sample of footage straight off the camera shot from the chest mount

Good things ahead!

Sweet! I'm seriously impressed with the Hero 2 quality. Even with heavy compression it looks pretty good on 360p on youtube. 720p is obviously awesome. I just posted a video yesterday that I filmed with a Hero 2 and considering my final file size was only like 290MB after compression it turned out awesome quality wise. (Works great for me since my internet is sorta slow to upload huge files)

I really like that mount position too. Did you cut out a section of your visor to have it sit in there?

I like the chest mount as well... as long as you keep it pointed high enough. I usually forget to angle it up and i get vid of just my sled bouncing around

Was there something about the contour you weren't happy with? Just curious why you jumped ship, you always seemed happy with the contour.

I lost my original 1080hd then bought a roam...and the pic quality was bad. Think I got a bad camera and they were going to make it right with a new one...but I wanted it before my ride.

SO after i started reviewing them...the Hero2 looked better to me. Just had to get over the square box on my head stigma.

So glad I did...because the video quality is fantastic.

Ive been wanting t get a can of some sort . i have been leaning toward the drift hd170 but I have seen lots of nice video from the hero2 lately .the fact that I can buy the hero and accesories in town may the decisive factor.

It gets worse....I just bought a Mac

my wife (an HP exec) is not going to be happy

:behindsofa:

Hopefully your wife has a lucrative career at HP/Compaq :face-icon-small-sho

Unfortunately we work with HP at our company. I feel much better when I go home to the Mac or IBM.
