bye bye poo hello doo:) need advice on 12 etec mods and must haves!!!

ya', after being loyal ac guy for 15 years i've really gotten kinda loose the last couple;)

dealer told me to use the blend oil, thought they would run the full synthetic. has anyone figured out about what oil ratio these run? trying to figure out how much to buy for the season.

sorry about all the questions but would rather learn from guys with experience than waste precious riding time experimenting with setups. always found it easier to get a good baseline and then fine tune from there.[/QUOTE]

BRP recomends using full synthetic oil on the 800 etec, it actually comes full of oil from the factory to make sure it is broke in using synthetic.
Dont know why your dealer would say use blend?

X2 on shat lynx just said. My sled was full when I picked it up and that's what they said DOO recommended to run the whole time.

i was actually reading the bottle today and it said it was made for the etec motor. the full synthetic was a yellow bottle and what i have is a synthetic blend which is in a black bottle. these are gallon jugs, are you guys running the yellow or black bottles?

still sitting in the back of my truck, haven't even opened the side panels yet! will take a look after i wash and wax it tommorow. haven't decided if i'm gonna polish the tunnel on this one, was thinking graphics to help shed the pow. anyone running the gates extreme belt? need the number to pick up a spare. just can't see paying $160+ for a belt, just seems silly...

finally got it out of the back of the truck today and washed it. this sticker is right on the oil bottle, so now i'm really confused???

what is up with this site and pics now??? i can't get anything to come straight on to the screen, photobucket now just shows a link and thumbnails come as attached images:(

when i was unloading it today the flap got sucked under the track, anyone cut thiers shorter or just remove it?

getting ready to mount my scratchers and was wondering if anyone has pulled the front 4 wheels?

love to loose free weight, already lost the windshield;) some engine compartment foam. not really too concerned about hifax wear, i try to ride fresh ungroomed as much as possible. even when i do have to take the trail somewhere i'm off to the side riding the banks and the ditch. anyone????

also how about a 2 wheel kit for the rear? is it possible to use the stock axle and just tap some threads in the ends then move the outer wheels in, kind of like on a M???

Nice Sled!

Here's what I run for extra's:

Can - "Thing" Cooker can from the Sled Shed. Sounds great and cooks your food. Not to mention drops about 10lbs from stock and gives you some untapped hp.

Snow Flap - I cut mine and will try to get you pictures as well, looks way better than the stupid stock length. (I also tore off the tail light assembly and made a bracket, had it powder coated, and threw an LED strip bar on. IMO looks way cleaner)

Quick Clickers for clutch adjustments (not necessary, but nice and quick)

Vents- I use MoFlow vents, for the side panels, and XXX Mod Rod vents for the front end and Coulings near the dash. I also have frogskinz for some other factory holes in the hood.

Tunnel Bag and or Gas Caddy - Try the linq system it looks great, i've ordered it. Mountain Addiction also makes really nice stuff.

I run full synthetic in my doo... not sure why yours is different.. I also run my doo with the sway bar disconnected. Just so much easier to tip and sidehill. I also have all of my engine compartment foam removed. No need for all that heat.

As for the rear idler wheel delete, IMO i really dont think you're gaining much with it. Maybe if you run the flexedge track, and the Tmotion suspension you'll see the difference. But i'll wait till next year to see how everyone likes it.

haven't decided on the can yet, gonna break it in with the stocker and make the switch after the first 300 miles.

sads, would love to see some pics. am trying to decide on which tunnel bag setup right now. who makes the linq set up? did you have any bog problems with the thing cooker? saw a post a guy was having problems with it on another etec.

Skidoo just came out with the linq system. Looks really clean, they should have it on their web site by now.

As cubby said above, the Linq system just came out from ski doo. It clips in, in like 2 seconds. Looks really good. I'll send you pics as soon as I can (Might be a couple days) but will get them on here. I'm hoping to have my Linq system in the next week or two.

As for the thing cooker can, I have no problems with bogging. I'm assuming that the guy that had issues with it, didn't change his primary spring from stock to a 130/350 (Which the Sled Shed Recommends). This eliminates any bog in the mid range, and also gets you more power off the bat as they found with the stiffer stock spring the clutch wasn't engaging near soon enough. If you phone Big Al at the sled shed, he can explain in greater depth.

Sorry, talk to Turboal. Not big al. Two different people.. oops.

Thanks for all the great info sads. Its nice to have people with experience and knowledge give their opinion on products that work in the real world for us sledders. Cant wait to see you on the hill again this year.
