i have a question

Like others have said, if your not used to a computer perhaps you should start to, because that is where a majority of your sales are going to come from. Its much easier to buy something online than to drive 20+minutes, order something, and then come back 2 weeks later when the part has arrived.

Exactly!

I live 2 hours from the nearest sled shop to me. I purchase almost all of my parts, clothing etc. online. I read a lot on the forums to find shops & suppliers to trust that others recommend. Unfortunatley for most store fronts, I think an online presence is a must.

Rod is a great guy - get'em on the phone and you will see. I have bought many of parts from him in the past and will continue to do so. He is kind of a hidden treasure, which is unfortunate. Prices and service are hard to beat - he got a bad rap on this thread for asking a simple economics regarding current aftermarket conditions. People have way too much time on their hands. Placed another order with him today as a matter of fact.

As for becoming a premium member - that was pretty good marketiing hype by Snowest as far as I am concerned for them to get help paying for their upgrades IMO. Is the site really that much faster or a better? I do all I need to do as a basic, and is still painfully slow at times. I see nothing different, or any added value, except the advertising got bigger and you can personalize your signature - big whoop.

TNT, I think you really missed the points of alot of the posts on here. It's not a matter of anyone giving Rod a bad rap, people are trying to give him good and valid ideas about how to promote himself and his business. Which, is an absolute must in the type of business he is in. Would be different if he was the only Joe on the block selling parts, he could just sit back and rake in the cash, But, with thousands of places to buy parts from, he is going to have to put in a little effort.

There are new people joing this site all the time. How are they supposed to know who he is if he doesn't self promote. As I stated before, positve experiences such as yours only rarely get mentioned. HE HAS TO PUT HIS NAME OUT THERE, plain and simple. And as far as being a premium member, I am one that said he needs to sign up. It has nothing to do with how fast the site works. For one, it is a very small token of appreciation to Snowest.com for him to be able to plug himself and profit from it on their site. And secondly, it will show as a sign of his commitment as a vendor to Snowest.com and it's members. Why do you think alot of businesses are members of local chamber of commerces'. Shows commitment to the communities in which they do business. This is a community as well, online albeit.

I'm not saying he is a bad guy. As I've said before, he probably is a good guy and a wealth of knowledge, but if no-one knows it, it's all worth nothing. Few businesses survive on word of mouth alone. And, yes I probably have too much time on my hands, but I have been in some sort of sales related position most of my working carreer, so I know a little bit about it. :face-icon-small-hap

What the heck difference in what I ride? For a Business that is wrong to go with one brand and it Doesn't matter. I am not a flyby night I do have a store front unlike others on here. If you care what i ride, I ride polaris. A1996 to 2005 polaris pipe and performance nut and I dont give advice unless asked. Had a web site no one used it always called or message here. What is Osborne Performance, we used to be called OTO Performance, before the t part passed away changed that for nobody's business, we also own a feed store in this area . I am Friends and shirt tail related to some major people in the sled world. I do not use their name to gain sales that is not right to do.I just noticed a decline in the last year just thought I would ask why and to see if I had offended anyone.

On the bold, attitude right there has got to be something to do with it. Sorry I do not know you or haven't seen you up until now. Come onto a snow forum and expect to get business left and right using the free membership. There are plenty of vendors here who go out of there way to help others with some problems. That here is what got my business from them in the past few years. I see them helping others with advise without expecting anything in return ( main reason why everyone signs up for sites like these) I see there a real sledder like us and willing to help. Now I don't make as much money for sledding as I would like to spend on the sport so what little I can spend on it I sure as hell do some research with who I spend it with and how. Another need in this business is a website. I would like to go to a website and do a search make sure it is the right product or number, or if so compare couple different products to pick the right one. Best to have them on your own website instead of sending your costumers to each brands website.

I am sure you are a great guy but old school sales just don't cut it anymore. Too many players in the business and they are willing to do whatever they can to make a sale. Sorry to sound rude but just telling it like it is.

Here is my old website www.osborneperformancesnowmobiles. Here is the thing for years I went by oregon800rmk. But was advised by snowesters five years ago to change my name, so we could sell products to all brands. Well I followed their advice and it failed. As of now I have been a member and sold parts on snowest for 12 years as oregon800rmk. I am going to take the advice of a few of you to become a premium member. So I welcome you new members that havent ever talked to me or looked at my products. We handle everything except klim so ask away.

Rod, I see you are on facebook as well. When you get signed up as a member make sure you put that in your sig line too.

And even though you got picked on a little in this thread, it is helping get your name out as well. I never knew who you were untill this thread. I can't promise I will ever buy from you as I have a very good aftermarket parts guy in my town that I have been buying from for about 10 years. But you are at least another avenue on my mind now next time I am looking for something. And, that is half the battle for you.

Genious

Rod you are either a genious or just flat out lucky.....look what has happened here!!! Either by design or by pure luck you have received more exposure and positive advice from many potential customers on this site and all you did was ask one question. Imagine what could happen if/when you get more involved on here. Well done
