I have a few ?'s

Kelsey, you make one of the finest heads out there (and I am sincere in this) but you don't know DIK about tuning and modding to fit a riders needs.

Ok,enuf is enuf, this comment qualifies for one the dumbest comments of the year (If not in the top 5 ever in of the life of the 4m).

You're right Slim.. My sleds all run like a bag of Sheat!! Now, I know why I can never make the highmark on the hill.. and being 2(BI) State Grass Drag Champ for 7 years must have been a fluke also. If I had only consulted you.. think what may have happened.... your signature echoes in my head .

I hate rude behavior in a man, I wont tolerate it. "Woodrow F. Call."

Take the same stock motor or no changes to that sleds current mods, and add my suggested LOWER gearing ( 19/46 or 19/47) and I bet you that the sled with the lower gearing kicks the sheat out of your suggested higher gearing in the mountains (I have already proved this ), take yer pick, meadow racing, powder climbing or straight uphill mountain drag race

Anytime...

Ya know, with all due respect, My findings show different . You are entitled to your opinion and that is great.. But the tactfulness, or lack thereof, of your post, speaks volumes.. Especially with your signature quote.

Bottom line is, I dont Like You and You don't like me and as to my signature: It also says "I won't tolerate it," you started this dance long ago. We have been this route before, If you want to 2 step keep on a fiddling.

Maybe we will have the opportunity to test your "findings" again some time ............

But with all due respect to cubby, I will stop hijacking this thread.
So go here -----------v

2004 REV Summit 144/16/2 gearing recomendations...IMHO...

light/normal weight guy-
low elevation- 21/45
mid elevation- 20/45
high elevation- 19/45 (stock)

heavier guy-
low elevation- 20/45
mid elevation- 19/45
high elevation- 19/46 or 47

That sled has way more issues than the gearing...BJ

WOW!! Slim....

I guess Big John's recommendations are the same as mine.. So given that reasoning..,

let's see how did you put it...

Big John...

don't know DIK about tuning and modding to fit a riders needs.

and Big John's Comment's
also qualifies for, again.. how did you put it?

this comment qualifies for one the dumbest comments of the year (If not in the top 5 ever in of the life of the 4m).

John, how silly of you to post such bad info???:face-icon-small-dis:confused::confused:

and Slim.. I have never played a fiddle in my life... So, I don't know where all this "fiddlin'" is coming from...

Hijack off...

Sorry , Cubby, I think you have the right answers to your questions. Feel free to call me anytime if you want to discuss other options and set-ups for your sled......

Gearing: if you gear lower, you WILL lose performance. best gearing for a 144 or 151 track would be 20/45 or 21/45. any lower and performance will suffer greatly.
Kelsey

With BJ's expansion of variables & on a 144 Maybe, with a 151, as you state above, you are off the mark, WAY off, specially riding in the Bighorns as Cubby asked, bring that low elevation setup and lets see, your comment still rates.

Looks to me BJ states all possibile sugestions - elevations and varibles, and if you look closely, both our suggestions are there, but you are stating flatland set-ups, and I am stating Mountain riding set-ups.

So now you are a flatland racer??????????????

Personally, I have always found that higher gearing works best. Thats being said, you need to remember 1 key variable: Clutching efficiency

- Higher gearing will get the clutches and belt hotter and kill efficiency, reducing track speed.
- Lower gearing will be more consistent run after run, but may not give as much track speed in optimum conditions.
