I had a brief ride on a new skidoo today

Not sure if I should post it here or in the skidoo section?

I had a brief ride, just a couple minutes on a brand new skidoo 154, a little steep traverse and a couple tree turns. The snow conditions were less than ideal, a little pow over a hardpack but to my surprise I quite liked the sled, immediately I felt confident enough to go on a steep traverse. The power delivery was immediate, I would say more direct than my axys (I felt it is picking up earlier, owner mentioned something about a new clutch in that sled - I don't know anything about that), it also felt more powerful from the bottom of the rev range than my 155 axys with full slp exhaust and clutching. The sled was bone stock and it felt very flickable, probably as flickable as my axys with 36 inch arms, fox shocks and no swaybar. What I didn't like was the seat, I actually hated it, it was so high that I had hard time moving from one side of the sled to the other, now I have burandt frameless seat on my axys which is pretty low but I was not expecting the seat to be that high on the skidoo. Also controls felt quite weird, I did not like standing over the bars but maybe the owner had it set up that way by mistake - I didn't ask.

No, I am not planning the purchase, I like my axys and I like riding it, I also perfectly know this sled capabilities and I am not going to switch over anytime soon :)

not sure why you moved this thread, I think it equally belongs to both axys and skidoo forums :) This is basically opinion on new skidoo from axys owner perspective and I am sure some axys owners would like to read this :)

If you want the honest truth... I just like picking on Polaris riders.

Besides, I'm sure the Axys was a nice sled back in its day... :boink:

Not everyone can drive a vette mountainjunkie, someone has to ride the Chevy caprice of sled world with the extra wide training wheel track , torsion springs and need the extra cc's to keep up, sometimes !!!!!

When i first read the title , brief ride, everyone i'm sure just assumed it was cause the belt blew. Lol.

That is usually Cat. Not Doo. Still the new Doo will be and is great competition for those on Polaris. And with the money saved from not having to rebuild the motor every year you can do some awesome mods.

Was eating dinner with some business guys. One guy was trying a bit too hard to impress everyone. We got to talking about what we drove in high school and he started in about the "vette" he had. A quick witted buddy of mine jumped in as well.

Buddy: "Seriously? I had a vette too. Had a lot of great memories in that thing".

Blowhard: "Yeah, mine was a chick magnet for sure."

Buddy: "Seriously? Mine was awful for picking up girls?"

Blowhard: "Dude, if you couldn't get girls with a Corvette, the car might not have been the issue".

Buddy: "Ohhhh, "Corvette"...I thought we were talking' Chevette".

Had to be there, but we were in tears laughing so hard.
