I have an older dana designs pack (8 years old) prior to him selling it to K2 and starting mystery ranch. The pack carries 80-100 lbs like it is 50-60. I packed out my goat with it and all my camping gear as well. I was extremely glad I had it and not my eberlestock.

Just google mystery ranch. I don't think cabelas or sportsmans carry them. I think they are in Montana. Not cheap, but well worth the money. Price shouldn't be a problem if he is looking at sitka.
