Clean? Get real. Oh, and I love the jobs argument. We should have used that to keep horse and buggies around. If an economy can't adapt, then it shouldn't be propped up in the name of jobs. Isn't that socialism? :face-icon-small-sho

Ruffy...you were conceived in a coal mine at 300 ft underground..back in the day when they took female baboons underground instead of canarys to test the air quality..and unfortunately the baboon.. (and indirectly you).. was entertainment for the coal miners

Kinda like Obama and GM. Wait,....... oh yea you voted for Obama. solar cells are so inefficent. Thr amount or square footage per the amount of electricity. Not to mention the cost. $$$$ wow. Drill for oil and mine coal.

proof? or is that hearsay? lol

If the demmys and ruffy get their way, no body will work. Everyone will be on wellfare. Who will pay the bills? What economy? Bad Coal, bad oil, Lets eat grass, Really their way of thinking is very stupid. anybody agree with me?

The more I think about it...not working, being on welfare and eating grass is sounding pretty good.

Old thread revisited

Today coal is still the best means of cheap clean reliable energy.

Wind turbines, subsidized heavily with your tax dollars and put in the electric rate base......so we pay for it up the azz twice. Not to mention how unreliable it is.

This cold winter was proof of how important coal is to us now and in the future. Lets hope congress, epa and anyone whom thinks otherwise realizes it.

Its weird. People protest coal, hydro, nuclear and now even wind power. So what's left? Solar is hardy a viable option for powering anything.

To everyone reading this that has not formed an opinion,do some research and get educated on the positive and negative impacts of fossil fuels. That way you can decide for yourself instead of buying in with someone because he talks tough or acts cool. Oh and by the way the only label I will accept is INDEPENDENT AMERICAN- rebellious for all the right reasons.

Thanks I totally didn't want to agree with someone that talks tough & acts cool that would be lame, you are so INDEPENDENT!

Done my homework, agree with most of the posts.

GO COAL

Just as I suspected, someone immediately pulls up his big boy pants and says something tough and acts cool. One of the largest contenders to replace coal is NATURAL GAS. It's comical how alot of you guys are always whining or crying about those horrible demmys making your life miserable. Big players in the energy industry are shootin' at each other and you don't even know it.I personally believe that fossil fuel is the best alternative for providing us with the excessive energy that we have become dependent on. Low sulfur coal burned in high temp plants with efficient scrubbing technology is one way to provide this energy. But it's not the only way.:face-icon-small-win

Excessive energy?? No such thing in AC grids, but please tell us Doc Brown how you believe we should produce the gigawatts? I think your just mad cause your donkey is destroying us. But please explain how to provide reliable & Efficient power. We are listening....

Well slugger. I knew this would be confusing for you. All the questions you ask has been answered by my previous statement. It is our demand on the grid that is excessive and not that we have excess coming off the grid. I would try to tell you how an AC generator works and how voltage is regulated to supply a constant voltage , but that would require the use of alot of big words and I can see you are already in overload.
Again let me say this; its not my donkey and its not my elephant,I don't have a ring in my nose to be lead with.

Huh...

well said, there's always something that has to be stopped or removed according to these guys.....

A big thing around here a few years back was the greenies wanting to take out the hydroelectric dams on the Columbia river.... interfering with fish migrations and such... You want clean power, and water is one of the cleanest ways to get it, but you would rather destroy it to save the fish run count that was down by 5% compared to 20 years ago.....

We need to focus MORE on using our natural resources as opposed to buying foreign, that's why we are so screwed now:face-icon-small-fro

There are always good and bad points to everything. Same can be said in the oil/gas industry, The Athabasca oilsands industry etc, however over 20 years ago there were studies done in the Kootenay's regarding dams on the Kootenay river which is a tributary to the Columbia river. The fishing has gone as predicted, feed and spawning grounds have been seriously affected. Siltation is also a valid point as already stated here. Once again, the good must out weigh the bad and these are all controversial topics. Fish play a large role as a food source in the world. Plastic, heating and transportation products are all reliant on oil and gas. Large quantities of electricity are generated using coal, and China is a huge player in the coal industry. I don't think there are any easy decisions here. The shale/gas industry is growing in North Dakota... If we take these away, what happens to North American economies?

Green VS Practical...

Oh and did I mention corporate structures??? Profit oriented governing bodies??? Self gain???

It will be many years and possibly generations before significant change happens. A little green is not a bad thing. Maybe the wheels of change need a bit of outside influence to make it happen.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is wise to utilize all of the resources available, such as solar, wind, cow farts......I'm all for it.

But to actively campaign AGAINST coal is absolutely STUPID!!!
If God did not want us burning coal, why would he have put it right at our disposal?
We have coal like the middle east has oil.
Organizations like Greenpeace for example are at the root of this anti-coal movement.

Sorry, a commercial on TV pushed me over the edge & I just had to vent!

I agree that we need coal, but your argument is not valid.

If God didn't want us to eat that apple why did he put it in that garden?

:face-icon-small-hap

:amen:

I wouldn't be mad if we made the switch to nuclear. The only thing about it that sucks is the waste which I have been told can be bad for the environment if it gets out ;)

Also, shout out to the stupid people who can't do anything besides call names and beat their conservative chests. Makes me embarrassed to consider myself a republican errytime(Yeah Ryanp I am looking at you).
