Hyfax length

are the hyfax on these sleds too short?
mine from the factory are about 1/4" from the end of the rail.
I replaced them yesterday and made them a touch longer, but they still do not go to the end of the rail.

what do they look like on your sled? do they extend to the end of the rail?

Same deal with my original hyfax. The OEM replacement hyfax I got needed about 10 inches cut off. So I cut them to end up about 1/8th of an inch past the end of the rail. That seemed to make more sense the the 1/8 of an inch short of the end of the rail. I wonder if this could have anything to do with the track wear on every non clipped window??

This has been my theory since the track wear issue came up, but I can't seem to convince anyone to try longer hyfax. Not getting my own AXYS until next season.

The most significant change Polaris made with the latest skid was to cut back the rail and allow the track to scrub off the end before it gets supported by the idler wheels.

If anyone else needs to update hyfax, just cut 'em an inch long and it might reduce/eliminate track wear.

The longer hyfax might make a tiny bit of difference but in realty your probably just going to get more noise/vibration if your leaving it hanging long, also the possability of jamming it into a window when going in reverse since its not supported.

I wouldn't recommend going more then 1/4" off the end of the rail and make sure its cut at a nice angle too with smooth corners. The track needs actual support and floated hyfax is not going to get you where you need to go. The tiny increase in length won't hurt but floating it too far poses some real risks.
