Hey Tampico, sorry to start a new thread but I guess I have reached my limit of being able to view the second page of the original, BS.. Anyway is it snowing up there yet? Gambled and took Wed. off to hopefully play in some fresh POW...

It is melting slowly, you have been up there since then; let us know how it is. The parking lot was still good last Sunday (road in sucked, and the lot was full), and it did snow some Tuesday night. Up high this week it should be good, we are supposed to get a decent snow fall tomorrow (Saturday). I haven't been able to ride the last 2 weekends, planning on going this Sunday. I will try to post tomorrow the latest grooming conditions. Based on forecasts, maybe 2 more weeks with sno-park use if we are lucky.

No problem with starting a new thread!

Ahtanum Conditions, 02/26/10, 1530 hrs. Below the snow park, it is still snowing and has been since morning; accumulation is light due to the warm temps, but it is not rain! We are apparently running a tad cooler than the forecasts, with a lower snow level. The snow line this morning was about 2 miles above the Nasty Creek road/Ahtanum road intersection.

Green Lake Sno-tel has added 8" of new from this latest storm, as of 1500 this afternoon, with a temp of 30F.

The groomer is slated to make the loop this evening and Saturday night. At last report both JackAss and Red Sadle are still being groomed and are passable.

I hope to ride on Sunday; will report again after I ride.

Have a great weekend,
Tampico

So Sorry for the delay in response. It was a good gamble for Wed. Snow up top was still soft, bout 4-5 of new and yall left plenty of untouched hills from the weekend that we enjoyed thrashing. Some sun and then snow it was an absolutely awesome ride. There was only two of us in the lot at 10am. that was a shocker, 4 rigs when we finished at 6pm.... The second shocker was actually running into the groomer, it does exist, on the way back to the truck on the North Fork road. seemed wierd to see that thing on the trail. Anyway spoke to some friends who went Thursday and they said another few inches up top, its really adding up now:) Cant wait till this weekend should be great with all the moisture....:smow::smow::smow:

My buddy and I will be headed up there tomorrow to check it out, unfortunately my 900 is still in the shop so I will be on my old 800, but its still a good fun sled....:) I'll be sure to post some pics tomorrow night, hopefully this storm the last day or 2 has piled it up for us:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap

Just back from a ride, had to come back early as my steering post decided to go south on me.... :(

Grooming from the snow-park to Whites ridge was ok, the road was covered and there were a few slushy spots on the way back, nothing terrible. Whites ridge parking area to tree phones wasn't very good when we came back down, starting to get bumpy, but still managable... 30 mph was about as fast as I wanted to go, lol:o From tree phones on up to clover flats was actually pretty dang good I thought, not bad at all.

The snow was pretty good, we tracked the heck out of several fresh hills before being forced to come down early... all in all it was a nice blue sky day with easily a foot + of fresh stuff on the spots we played:face-icon-small-hap I just wish I had my 900 back from the shop... the added power would have been very useful today:face-icon-small-sho

EDIT: A couple pics.....:D:D

Was up today, and going back tomorrow:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap. Awesome on the Ahtanum side, not so good on the Rimrock side. Kicked up a decent sized avalanche today below blue slide cabin so PLEASE be careful out there. Definately made me start thinking a bit:face-icon-small-dis. Had the HD helmet cam running the during the climb/slide/hand full of throttle and ride like he!! to safety, event.....Did I mention that the snow was AWESOME...........

The snow was awsome in the morning but was setting up in the afternoon. It will be solid ice on the road starting about halfway up to the parking lot from the store in the morning so be carefull! Freshies all day I hardly saw the road all day except on the way back down fron Eaglesnest. It was an awsome day! knee deep snow every where we went! It would have been nice to have a little extra power today it took several runs at the hills to make it over the top. I hope the snow doesn't set up to hard tonight so you guys going tomorrow can enjoy!

Well, what a great weekend! I only got to ride on Sunday, but it was beautiful. My son and I rode through red saddle, up the south fork into the logged area, up to the south rim of cultus hole, west into the hills/burn area north of Klickitat Meadows, up strong table to the top, in and out of the super bowl, quick trip to whites pocket (some avy's noted) and back to bottom. Red Saddle was groomed before it snowed, north fork was choppy with moderate stutter bumps. No bare spots on either red saddle or north fork. The roads should hold for at least one more weekend, JackAss the possible exception. Possibly more higher elevation snow on Wednesday or so. Ski-Benders meeting on Tuesday night, grooming council on Wednesday night.

Quick update, rained a bunch last night. Lower areas lost a fair amount of snow, still fairly warm. Green Lake sno-tel did not show a lot of new snow. I will try to update again on Friday.

Ice upto snowcabin/treephones, grooming is good. In the afternoon the snow softened up and it was good up above 5,500 ft.(t-shirt weather today) If you ride the northern slopes in the trees the snow is still good and lots of fun. All the popular places are all tracked up ie:little, big bowls but there is still alot of untouched in the trees and and the bowls that are not as popular, but more fun!

here is a pic on a little hill with good snow. you got to have good snow to be able to stop on a sidehill like that. P.S. having a cat helps too.:face-icon-small-ton

TAMPICO RIDE 3-11-2010

Arrrived in snow park A.M. and found maybe 1/2 inch. Road to treephones was okay. Found some good play areas up Red Saddle and behind the cabin at Clover Flats (or Springs?). Approximately 5 inches of fresh when we left around 14:30. It was still snowing as we headed down. Snow park was continuing to melt when we arrived back at the trailers. Should be a good weekend, but unfortunately the timing of my visit was off and I am heading back South. Hope the weekend is enjoyable for those that get to ride.

Three of us are thinking of going to Tampico Sunday. Anyone care to show us around?

I don't mind having to drive up a bit since I've only been there a few times this season... Anybody know?
