how would an f8 do

so heading to the hills next week and my buddy wants to bring his f8. it has a 128 track and hes not very experienced, gonna be riding in mcbride just wondering how you guys think he will actually do

If the snow is like last weekend good luck.I just put a 2" 136 on my kids f-5 and it was having a hard time getting around.

i took a 136 x1.25 out west before, it was a challange to stay with longer tracks , deffinatly wasnt climbing anything and was getting stuck more than others * all cant be blamed on the track though on that *

if you guys are staying near the trail or mild off trail it would be fine, if its over 3ft of pow he would be digging a lot if he ever got out of your tracks.
if you could find a longer paddle track to put under it , i think that would make a world of difference, i bet you could even find some extentions and make it a 136,, then get a 2 incher and your set

on the plus side though he'd be safer though roght now with conditions sketchy like they are. He should do fine on it i'd say.

Not only is that track shorter but it's narrower...sounds like you'd be doing a lot of digging to me. If he stayed on the flats or roads I think he'd be fine but that'd be no fun for you guys.

for the first trip out it's a good way to learn. once he figures out when to turn out and how to handle it he'll be fine.

Hey Chad, did you get that starting issue takin care of on your RX-1? Where and when are you going? I was thinking about riding the weekend of the 23rd. I would love to be there to see the look on your face the first time you take the black monster smokin up a hill. As for your buddy with the f8...better hope the snow settles a bit...talked to a buddy of mine who rode Sicamous...they were trying to break a trail up the backside of Hunters, usually a pretty easy way in and he told me that they "rode" for six hours and couldn't even get to the lower cabin( about 23km, mostly on a logging road)..stuck, stuck, stuck all 4 guys riding piped D8s.with 163s good luck...BE SAFE.

every time i take an unexperience rider out west i make sure they have a little less sled than they can hande. that way it teaches them to use momentum and not rely on the extra track or power of a bigger mountain sled.

this was the case until last year my one friend bought a mountain cat 900 159" for his first trip the CO. i think he was stuck more and in more trouble than if we would have brought his short track out there.

Not well... Last year in IP we had to help a guy on an F sled and he was experienced. In a 1/2 mile stretch we had 9 sleds stuck and most were long tracks. the F8 was trenching pretty bad. I'd say have him rent a summit with that 16" track. Oh and definately take a snow-bungee along. Just yank him out.

if the snow is hard pack he shouldnt have a problem.....not familiar with the snow conditions around there but if there is alot of fresh plan on pulling him around with a tow rope cause those sleds suck ballz in the deep....a buddy thought he was gonna help himself with a 151" on his firecat....(narrow track) and he couldnt stay afloat to save his soul...unbelievable how a wider track makes such a huge difference.....

have you ever been in that area??

i have a 500 with a 136 and was out in wyoming, i stayed with my buds who have big tracks it just took me a while to get up hills, lot of side hilling. its all about momentum haha! and the rider has a lot to do with it (throttle control) in my case it was pinned!
