How Well Do The Stock Skis Work?

Just wanted to know how the stock skis work. I been riding my M for couple of years and I just picked up a 2010 m8 162. It seems that i have to fight the ski once i get the sled on its side. Any input would be great. I hear nothing but great things from SLP Powder pros, what about Sly Dogs?
Pretty sure im going to get rid of them piles and upgrade, but which ski is the question I have.
thanks

The stock M ski's are not bad. I ran them for a while without any major complaints. I didn't like it when they would fold up and lay on the bumper when you carve down hill in wet snow. Switched to C&A Pro XT's, and wow what a difference. At slow speeds you build some shoulder strength with the 1.5'' keel. I am finally beginning to like them, they were a lot to get used to. Turn completely different, and carve completely different. As I get used to them I don't think there would be any way I would switch back to stock skis. Powder Pros are great skis too, a tad less aggressive which might be good. Sly Dogs are good on powder IMO, but sketchy and darty on the trail.

i've always found aftermarket skis to be a waste of money unless your worried about how your sled handles on the trail, when your floating in the pow your skis do jack...

The skis you buy mainly depend on what type of conditions you will be riding in. Here is a chart of what works well in different types of conditions as well as the specs on our skis. Hope this helps make your decision easier. :D

my stock skis have never left me stranded in the mountains.:D

on a more serious note: i don't have any complaints with the stock skis, they seem fine on the trail and powder(good floatation) but i have nothing to compare them to.

So far the stock ski's are the best that Cat has ever put on a sled. Not to bad. i'm waiting to see if I can find a better ski to go too. the PP are kind of scary in the spring when they can catch a groove.

I don't have to many complaints about the skis but, i softened up my front suspension which helped make a huge difference in transferring weight. Before I could get the sled to come over and after that it felt like I was trying to ride a bull, didn't know which weight it was going to throw me.
I would like to try a new ski and see what that does, but ill try them out west and see what I think.
Maybe my suspension is set up wrong? any suggestions
2010 m8 162 standard
thanks for feedback

for what you're saying matters to you, the stockers or powderpros with the carl's cut would likely be the best.

I've got a set of C&A's that SUCK for sidehillling, feel the same about simmons & many other aftermarket skis. Medium width without outside edges work the best for my style of riding at least.

I hated the stock skis. I rode my buddies with Powder Pro's and what a huge improvement! I bought some the next week. Better on the trail & in the pow.

Which model C and A's would that be?

C&A pros (they look like the rz's to me). they've got a heavy outside edge, they're SUPER unstable on a sidehill unless there's over 2' of pow. A ski with a v shaped bottom will slide once it's on edge, these (a tri-keel style) keep trying to grab & they pull the front end up instead of allowing you to hold a level line on a sidehill.
