You didn't miss anything. Yamaha was inside this year......I think I heard crickets when I walked by!!!!!! A/C seems like they have some good stuff going on with the Boss seat option, new tunnel (hardly covers the track), and adjustable steering post. I may start skipping out on Expo and just wait to see the sleds in Jackson. It has been a great snow year in West this season.
It's too bad that they charge you $15 to go look at products that you may want to purchase in the future. You would think that the manufacturers and vendors would want people to be able to see their products for free.

VENDING EXPO FREE ATTENDANCE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC
(raise our booth space fees slightly, get it sponsored by the factories, The Chamber simply forego that money to save your event, get it sponsored by the HOLIDAY INN who is the single biggest benefactor financially of EXPO)
FRIDAY OPEN VENDING AREA from 5pm to 8pm for private industry/dealer/racer,crew,family/vip only. Put out no host bar, hors o'dourves ect pay for it by getting it sponsored..hell I'LL SPONSOR IT!
Aftermarket vendors do a huge portion of our business with other industry people and this gives us uninterupted access networking with each other which is the major show benefit for vendors. Organize it and lay it out so we get this time and opportunity. That alone makes the rest of the cost and hassle worth doing.
SATURDAY/SUNDAY ONLY FREE ADMITTANCE general public vending from 10 am to 5 pmI would advocate for that too - it would also give the vendors an opportunity to patronize the town and enjoy ourselves.
PLEASE GET SOME OUTSIDE ENTERTAINMENT
(extreme jumping and decent bands generally do it) (please no more senior polka bands or karoke...holy crap what a buzz kill by the Holiday Inn and Stage Coach) At least we got to go to bed early and save up our energy/money for JACKSON HOLE!!!! You want to talk about crickets. Slowest I've ever seen the expo party seen in my entire EXPO LIFE. BOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooo
This was the PERFECT band for a warm summer day, drinking red wine on a grassy area and dancing barefoot. Not an event like this. The Holiday Inn lost thousands because of the band choice. In years past the rooms have been packed, standing room only - not empty tables everywhere you looked.
Lots of comments about no big air too!
This should be an event that all snowmobilers look forward to each year and there should be enough events going on that they have to give up one that they really want to go to for another that they want to go to more!
Another comment that I would make is - get some outside help! There is nobody who can give suggestions and ideas better than someone who has been there.............ask the vendors and industry professionals!
Give the vendors something for coming and buying a booth - could be in the form of:
- discounted rooms
- coupons in a vendor packet for a free drink in the hotel bar (you know we'll buy more!)
- $5 off dinner at a restaurant,
- offer us a $25 discount on our booth next year if we sign up by a certain date
- Free advertising in the expo program for booth payment by a certain date
- come around to the booths, take some photos and ask some questions about products - use those interviews and photos in upcoming editions of the magazines
- Design a postcard (printable and emailable) and ask vendors to distribute them to their customer list.
- Be sure that dealerships are putting up posters about Expo (can't tell you that i've EVER seen advertising for the event!
All of these ideas could be used in one form or another to encourage attendance - afterall, the attendees are what make this worthwile for the vendors and the planners! Can't forget that!!!
Okay - I could keep listing things, but you get the idea! A little marketing goes a long way!
Whew - tired now.
2fun
