How To Plug This Hole In My Gas Tank

Sorry but I didnt know where else to post on here for this.
Any ideas how to plug this hole.The plastic plug that came with the tank is not holding.Fuel is leaking around threads.
I have already tried thread tape.

If you could get a bolt with a sealing washer on it from the inside and put a washer and nut on the outside that might do the trick.

How about something like this rubber expansion nut. You can find these at Lowe's, Home Depot, or Ace Hardware. Find one close to the size of the hole and then it should mushroom as you tighten it up.

Plastic welding might be a good option too.

x2...just like the bolts and washers that hold the tanks on older crane or western toilets available from any plumbing shop...or try seal-all as a sealent on that plug you have...its impervious to gas and you can at least remove it again if it doesn;t seal..but seal-all has been used for gas tank holes for 60 years

Any type of rubber plug HAS to be Nitrile rubber....the plugs they sell at Home Depot and Lowe's WONT WORK...the gas will disolve the rubber and the plug will fall out (been there done that).

I would try again with the white plastic threaded plug and use Teflon Tape along with Pipe Joint Compound made for fuel. You could also use an epoxy, but again it HAS to be made for fuel. As others have said, Seal All is another option.

Teflon paste usually works well with plaistic threads, teflon tape almost never does.

get the yellow pipe thread sealer. white tape dont work on fuels.. yellow does. I did my whole propane system with white.. leaked like a SOB.. did it with yellow tape.. no leaks.

Try putting finger nail polish on the threads of the plug. Gas won't dissolve it and it seals good. I have used it for years when rebuilding different types of carbs.

3 m panel bond will seal that hole up right away that stuff is awesome and sticks to everything!

thats because yellow is for propane..white never was or is..for fuels white is fine ..if in question i use pipe dope then tape then dope then install...and if in real need the pipe dope and then hemp then dope again on the threads is a fail safe seal

if you really want to plug that hole..put a little hair around it..the rest just comes natural
