How to get the max rpm setting

Are you talking about recording max RPM? If so this is how the service manual says to do it...

The instrument cluster can be used as an engine RPM, vehicle speed, and TPS data recorder. Once enabled, the gauge can record up to three minutes of information.

To initiate RECORD:

1.Press and hold the MODE and SEL buttons on the instrument cluster for 3 seconds.
2.The PLAY BACK icon will begin flashing when record is activated.

To PLAY BACK:

1.Once the snowmobile has stopped and the engine RPM drops below clutch engagement speed, press and hold the MODE and SEL buttons on the instrument cluster to enter the play back mode.
2.To exit the play back mode, slightly tap the throttle lever.

yep..what he said..but before you hit record mode, make sure you have both rpm and speedo in the window..then when it records you get both rpm and track speed..if checking maxrpm..find a smooth area where the track wont get unloaded....

No not play back, you can scan through the modes and see max speed and rpms. Just as a quick reference. I don't know how to change from max mph to max rpm

I think this is what your wanting...

Engine RPM/Vehicle Speed Display

The top section of the display will show either engine RPM or vehicle speed. If engine RPM is displayed at the top, then vehicle speed will be displayed in the performance information area and vice-versa. To change the top section display, follow these steps:

1.The engine RPM or vehicle speed must be displayed in the performance information area. If neither are displayed, press and release the MODE button on the gauge or LH control until engine RPM or vehicle speed is displayed.

2.Press and hold the MODE button on the instrument cluster or LH control for 3 seconds to switch between the two displays.

Not sure if that is it or not.... I don't understand why I can't find anything about a max rpm. This number is shown in the smaller number section where the trip and hrs are. Right now mine shows max mph, I just can't figuare out how to toggle between mph and rpm.

so kinda along the same line, how do you clear the max mph record? my says 144, obviously not correct and not really that big of a deal but would like to know how to change reset it.

OK, then I'm not missing anything. I was wondering the same thing as AK800VE, thinking there has to be a simple max RPM setting which toggles with the max MPH setting that I could see (al be it the max mph is in a really small fount size). Well sounds like that's a NO, it's not there as an option. The play back feature is OK, and I understand how it works, but I really wish they would have kept the simple max RPM function like they have had for a bunch of years going back. With the old setup I could reset it while riding and get immediate feedback then reset it again, all while riding. Who really wants to sit there with the sled idling away and watch the last 3 minutes of playback when all most people want is, what's my max RPM from the last 30 seconds or so. Wish they would have opted to go with the max RPM instead of max MPH or how about both... Ya think? Who makes these decisions?? I can just see the guy deciding on if the sled should have a max MPH or max RPM... gee ya think maybe both would have been the right call instead of just max MPH. I'm guessing having the system record both would have cost about 0 cents more. Anyway... I guess once you get the sled dialed in you don't really need to see the Max gages anymore anyway right. If this is all I have to complain about with the sled then I'm a VERY happy camper :-) and I am VERY happy with the sled!!
