How much to bore.....

I have a 2007 ski doo rev 800r and i am interested in boring my cylinders out. How much can i bore my cylinders before having to change the size of my std piston size?

Why would you want to bore it out? If your going to do any type if boring make it a big bore.

Sorry I wasn't very clear in the original post. Was not on my computer and was in a hurry. I am rebuilding my top end and want to know what the tolerances for piston to bore are. Reason is that I already have bought std size pistons. Now it looks like I may have to get the cylinders bored to get rid of some deep scratches. Want to know if I could still get it bored without having to up the piston size.

That cylinder is nicasil coated. If it's damaged and you want to stay with stock bore you need to send the cylinder out to have redone. If you are thinking big bore now would be a good time with a damaged cylinder. Either way the cylinder gets nicasil coated (plated).

If you need a cylinder or cylinder work give Big John at Sled Head Racing a call 612-718-3861.

Step 5. Install engine
step 6. Hang the hell on!!!

You can bore it out if you want to run aluminum on aluminum :). My plan was to put sleeve's in mine and just order big bore pistons but I decided on just riding the thing instead of tuning last year...And now theres a turbo sitting here ready for it...Kinda a 180 turn... You can do a "light" hone on nikasil but it does not get rid of deep scratches

What alot of people forget about is, it's not only the scores and marks in the cylinders. Need to make sure the cylinders are still round and not out of shape..

Sleaving would be just as exspensive unless your doing a over bore. There is a guy on here think he goes by crazyhouse or something on those lines and said he could do my cylinders for $165 a piece + shipping.
