how much oil do yall use

i was just wondering if this is normal or not and if it is not normal how do i change the setting. last season i would use nearly 3/4 of a gallon of oil to every ride. My dads cat don't use half that. (almost) so if that is an abnormal amount what is normal. And also where is the the adjustment and what are the brp specs. for the oil adjustments. 2008 rev 800

sounds about right, i had a 07 800 x and about a tank and a half of gas i would use about 3/4 gallon, should be fine

Doesn't sound right at all, that's way too much oil.
I was riding an 08 800 Scummit in Valemount last year.
200 miles in 2 days hard riding and added 3/4 litre.

So you are using 3 litres per ride?

i think a gallon is about 3.78 liters. so yeah close to that

Yeah, that's like 14:1, most sleds will run 40:1. Take it to the dealership and let them screw with it, trust me, it's hard to get yourself to mess with the oiler when you know the life of your motor rests in your hands!

my dealership is a one man show and he is a dork. plus about 3 hours away. so i would like to know what i can do to have to avoid the $250 trip it would take to get my sled there and back.

Be thankful you don't have a 01' like mine, the adjuster is on the oiler itself, in the bottom of the bellypan, so 2 hours of reaching into the bottom of a bellypan with a flashlight in my mouth and a mirror to see the adjuster, sucked.

it is an xp. but if what your link says is the same that would make sense, and will help. is that the same as an xp?

I am not sure if they are the same. The general procedure of measuring the cable might be the same, but I'd check with your dealer or get an XP service manual before going to town.

To Motley Doo....I hear where you are coming from, it was a huge PIA to adjust the oil cable on the ZX. The rev is easier to get at, but last year when i was adjusting my rev I adjusted to spec and it seemed like I was still using way more oil than i should.

Yeah, the best way would be to actually figure out how much it is using per 10 gal and then tune it to 40:1 or what ever you want. Problem is that I really don't want to try to get at that POS ever again!

Check all your cables first. My buddy put a riser kit on and the oil cable wasn't routed right so the oil cable was tight and it thought it was at wide open throttle all the time. He used more oil than you're talking about but I'd look there first anyway.
