how many2011pros havent had crank bearing issues

check your oilers. the factory sets them too lean. my buddys went down at 640 miles with a bad rod bearing.

not what i have found. more than not they are way to rich. i leaned my sled out on the oil pump the weekend i bought it. it rips, doesn't smoke, not sure what my oil to fuel ratio is but i have 1500 miles of ABUSE and no issues.

on a side note, i have seen a 2 polaris engines that went down. one was this weekend. Rod bearing went out and blew a hole in the block

None

1200 miles on my 11. Not one issue. Talked to the mechanic at my dealer. He said one 11 motor went down. No reason. Polaris took care of it. 12s have had zero engine failures. Said over 70 11 and 12s sold last 2 years. Hes pretty impressed. said it wasnt that way with the dragons but most of us are aware of that. Seems like they have been pretty bulletproof imop. He did say there have been some minor issues with several pros but didnt elaborate as to what.....Randy

if you look at the injectors..they sit in the transfer ports, and the tip points up toward the chamber....makes it pretty tough to get oil/fuel to the crankcase..turning the oiler up does put extra oil into the crankcase..maybe a good thing would be do both, turn the oiler up, and add premix...

I think the injectors are in the boost port?(Back of cyl). There are 4 more transfer ports per cyl, when the transfers and boost port are closed they charge the case/crank, the gas from injectors in the case evacuates the case.(and oil put directly on crank). My theory is that premix lubes both crank and cyl's. (semi-direct injection) Just my theory.
I have premixed @100:1 since new.

Tinker, normally a motor that has chipped/pitted rings is from snow ingestion....might keep an eye on that when its deep....

Kej, you are right it is the boost port..but next time you have an injector out, take a look, the fuel does not go into the crankcase..the injector sprays up into the chamber right as the piston uncovers the chamber... the only oil the bottom end sees is from the pump....adding a little oil to the fuel is a good thing...it helps keep the piston skirts in oil...but also turn up the pump too...

My take is that the injector or your thumb (on the throttle) doesn't know when the port is closed or open. So, when closed it charges the case not the chamber. It has to go somewhere? The case is open, the combustion chamber is closed. (piston closes transfer and boost ports).
A direct-injected motor puts ALL fuel into combustion.
A semi-direct put most- not all. The remainder goes into the case like older case directed fueling.

My sled went down the other day. Dealer told me it was a "hole in the crankcase". 1500 miles on it. Looks like I am getting a new engine.

I'm running an '09 Dragon 800 CFI-4. 2500 trouble-free miles. Sled before that, I still own, is an '03 escape 800 5500 miles no problems, and that engine was supposed to have crank bearing problems. I hear about a lot of engine problems on this forum, but don't know anyone who has ever had an engine failure. Am planning on snow checking a '13 pro 800!

I have 1700 miles with no issues at all. Only bitch I have with the Pro is the crappy arms that will bend if you look at them wrong. But my Pro and all the others in the group have 1500 to 2700 miles and all run great and no motor problems.
