How many Turbo kits are truely install and ride?

I'm just curious how many have installed a turbo, set it to the recommended tuning box numbers, boost and clutching and haven't touched a thing on the kit since (and how many miles). I just see a lot with issues, tuning nightmares or what have you. Just wondering if the problem is the turbo kits, the snowmobile, or the operator that are causing the issues with lack of knowledge.

Please include # of boosted miles, Amount of boost, Altitudes ridden at, Amount of tweaking/tuning required, Issues related to sled (symptoms and fixes)

I have a silber kit on my sled.
430miles
500-1000ft
4.5 - 5 PSI
2012 800 switchback 136"
99% bolt in
70% pump gas 30% 110 octane
weights i used were 3.5 grams heavier then recommanded in the instructions
I changed a few number on my controller because of my elevation..
It runs fine But, I always play with the fuel box it see if can get a little more.
Thats the max boost I can run till it get my AVID drivers.
I also ordered a custom 0 - 10 PSI boost guage..
I had to tweek my steering arm a little because its different than the RMK steering linkage....

you really only hear about the people with issues.. if you look at the numbers you kinda have to start to wonder if the 4 or 5 threads with somebody having a problem is a relatively small portion of this kits

Silber 2012 kit on a 2011 pro.
7-8 lbs 3-7000'
straight 100L (overkill but to lazy to mix)
clutching right from silber- no changes
350 miles before turbo, 400 miles boosted.
6 rides, 1-sucked.... 1 was ok. 4 were very good
the one ride that i had various problems all related to my doing the install and not following directions to the 'T' :nono:
1 ok ride... verdict is still out on what was wrong (frozen boost signal line?)
I use silbers recommendation box #'s and it seems to work the best.(i do vary the green for the trail)
when i start messing with the box #'s i get myself messed up..LOL
(i keep a paper with the default #'s to reset myself)

any other tweaking is only my own preferences,(boost gauge style,mounting..ect)

So far i am very happy with the kit.

I know they are geting more refined every year. Did a '09 Dragon turbo and we fought spark plugs (a set a ride), fuel box moisture/failures, excessive intake heat, rings sticking from leaded fuel deposits, and boost leaks....like I said, they are getting better every year. Just what we experienced and were told it's part of the game and all were fairly common issues at the time. It was a 100% race fuel, 12lb aero setup, won't mention names but they were as helpful as possible.
When it was "right" and cool, it ripped.

silber kit

My sled: silber kit
-1800kms 12-13 lbs boost 100LL
-silber clutching
- set up box for altitude
only ever adjust the green light
-still stock pistons
- 4000'-8000' very happy

installed 2 other kits silber (2012)
- bolt on 5-6 hrs ea
- had them both dialed at 10lbs
- silber clutching
-100LL 2500'-8000'
- took on average 10-15 min to set up box (minimal adjustment )
-both these riders just pull and go .
some small adjustment for green depending on temperature of the day.
- 400-800 klms on sleds
- both riders very happy with there sleds

Silber kits are far from pull and go. ****ty directions. Sends u a clutch kit that isnt even close to wut u need. Customer service is good in the beginning untill u continue to have problems. Then it flat out sucks.

Sorry to hear you had problems !! Like I said, 3 kit ! no issues ,3 happy customers ! I didn't find the instructions bad at all?

Good luck !

This is my first turbo (Silber 2012 PRO)...been used to running psi motors and mod stuff forever, so tuning/tinkering is normal. I installed my kit while Bryan Watts brother (I'm old and forgot his first name) installed my buddies. We had no directions, but they have installed many of them so I just kept up. I put it on at 130 miles and I now have 600 miles. I have played with my box a little if needed, but haven't touched it now in the last 4-5 rides. They are easy to adjust while you ride. We both run 100LL at about 12-13# of boost. Elevation from 4000 to 7000 most of the time. Did do one stupid poker run (for the chicks) that we started at about 2400. I still never touched my box then. All the rest of the miles have been boondocking in the hills. I wouldn't go back to stock for anything!!!

I guess 'WUT' you need and what I need are different (as opinions)
clutching is working very well for myself. but yes the directions had a couple of glitches. but nothing Justin didn't clear up in a phone call or 2.

7 or 8 at least in our little circle. They all seem to have happy owners.

That includes both Silber and BD kits.

2 boondocker kits in my group. They both run great, no playing around with there boxes. All they do is put gas and oil in them. Me, I always have to make adjustments depending on terrain. Still trying to get my clutching right, u would think when buy a clutch kit with your turbo kit, it would at least be close. Absoultly no help from Justin.

Mine has ran great since I tuned the box in a little. Cluthing was the easy part, Justin had it close just had to change weight after first ride.

clutching

So what clutching components are you using??

primary spring-
primary weights-
secondary spring-

4 kits in our group have been relativly trouble free. 3 CPC and 1 OVS. If someone wants a trouble free sled that you only put gas and oil in, buy a stock sled. With a trubo you are going to have to look everthing over after/before every ride. If You can manage to change reeds, clutch weights, etc and like huge power, get a turbo. Clutching should be pretty easy to adjust per rpm's and fuel is fairly easy if you can read an afr or egt gauge.

I think the best advice I can give you is buy it from someone who will be available to help you when you can not figure out the issue on your own. Both OVS and CPC have been great to us. This weekend I had an issue of the Pure Logic box going into startup mode (lights flashing, recalibrating) when I was under boost. I looked at loose connectors and fittings all morning. Finally got service on the hill and called Travis from OVS. Right away he told me the sled was dying and the box was seeing the power loss and going through the start up process. Said it is usually the stock ground on the steering post or the wires to the tail light. Unplugged the tail light and tightened up the ground and was back in business.
