How many of you lower 48r's would love to ride in Alaska????

It not just about the riding, the fishing is amazing here in the summer. I watched my wife real in her first halout this year and when we had to shoot it before getting it in the boat I new it was big. 160 pounds

Nice.

I'm in. Too bad its like a 2500 mile ride for me to get there:(:(:(

We drove 4000+ miles and took the ferry from Bellingham to Haines which is not in the 4000 miles so I am guessing we were close to 5000+ miles getting here including the ferry ride and land miles. :D Worth every mile.

Driving over the Alcan out of Haines in the winter was not what I call fun but hey, we did it! It was -20 in Tok in the third week in October.

DVarmit,

That's a long trip, glad I only had to drive to Seattle and fly up. The boyfriend couldn't get into Canada so that ruled out us driving up:rolleyes:

Here's a perspective shot from the backside of Turnagain for you guys who want to come north to ride big country close to sea level.

Maybe we Snowesters should start a "Couch Surfing" program to host fellow sledders--spend that hotel money on gas instead!

Heck, you guys are right down the road from us. We left PA October 8th, went to Colorado for an Elk hunt, drove to Bellingham, caught the ferry to Haines and drove over the Alcan to Wasilla. I was never so happy to land somewhere permanent. I have to say that out of the entire trip the over night stay at Beaver Creek in the Yukon was the most well, shall we say interesting

Whoops sorry so off topic..

Moved up here in September from Minnesota.(I here Dvarmit on the long drive up here, but well worth it.) Ive ridden in wyoming, colorodo, idaho, montana, michigan and barely in minnesota. Alaska is by far the best terrain ive ever ridden hands down.

Scenic pic of Lost Lake, Alaska. I love where I live but I still spend half the time on Snow West looking at all of the other places in the lower 48's that I wish I could ride. If this thread read "how many of you guys would love to ride in Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, Revy, etc," I'd be all over it. Variety is the spice of life my friends and there is nothing like finding a new area to ride that is sweet. Alaska is great and I know I'll never move, but it is also important to get out and see what else is out there, or else you can get jaded. Just my opinion.

Just thought I'd through a jump in there from the same day as the scenic pic to keep it real. Peace fellas

ok I'm totally stoked on alaska, always have been. I went there once in the summer and it was amazing, but didn't get on the snow at all. If opportunity presented itself, I'd give my left nut to be a helicopter guide up there. I know the winters are harsh, but I've lived in the mountains before and its worth the struggle.

Very nice pics and vid guys.

That would be sweet. The fishing, boating, hunting and kick a$$ sledding. Just going out the back door and riding for hundreds of miles with no one in sight. Sign me up. Oh wait a sec...never mind. :D :D :D
