How long will I have to eat crow before...

Um, wrong.
It is the employees that FORCE the company to pay more than they are worth. It is the unions that have caused it. You will pay me what I tell you to pay me or we will destroy your company. Then they go to the next company and say, see, they now make this much. WE are worth more than they are, so you will pay us more or we will destroy your company.
As has already been stated, they been doing it for years.

When an employee makes 30 dollars an hour to push a broom do you really think an upper manager is going to be willing to work for less?

The managers are trying to get what they can also. It's called greed, it not now nor has it ever been solely a management problem. THe workers are just as much to blame and the unions bare most of that. The unions drove the wages for all levels of pay within the auto industry and they will now sit back and watch as their efforts destroy everything.

Will the UAW take a hit for this?
Of cource not. The UAW bosses already have theirs, they could care less what happens from this point onward.

I gotta argue with ya on this one. I fight for myself, you fight for yourself....if not we are just minimum wage losers. if I tell my boss I want more then I am worth....he tells me to hit the road. our shop is a union shop.......sort of.....the company and one of the unions could not agree on some stuff....they said we'll strike, he said don't bother and quit doing business with em. done.

if the jobs the UAW does is so easy it should have been gravy to fill the positions during the strike.....after all anyone can push a broom.

don't be fooled into thinking that all unions are made up of greedy folks, not that there are not some....but in the trades it is hard to beat the wages and beny's the union offers. I work in a small shop as sometimes the only hourly wage employee, I know my owners family and he knows mine. I have an awesome group of guys that I work with and every single one of them is appreciated.....but bottom line is if the HFMIC says we need more work for less pay....I have to decide if that is for me, and if I tell him I want more $$ for less work....it's on his plate. I appreciate what the unions have done for labor, but companies like mine could exist with out them. not a sole in my company made less then $20 an hour and had benys too........even the non union hourly guys.

what is better, to stand up for yourself and place a value on your product and your workers labor, or to sit back and get ran over only to go bankrupt in embarrasment?

managers jobs are to manage, worker jobs are to work.....it's everyones job to stand up for yourself and decide what you will settle for, I am glad I did.
