How long will I have to eat crow before...

it starts to taste good?

In the beginning and during the campaign, I was a Canadian who supported the US publics choice for president. I took some heat for it from some on the forum but it's all good. I listened to many of you warn of impending dangerous changes and I thought it was all "chicken Little" and give the poor guy a chance.
I am now convinced that mistakes were made. After the speech yesterday concerning the auto industry bailouts I have a problem with your new president. He seems to want to blame 99% management and 1% workers. He should have put the unions on the hot seat first. They are the main reason why we are in this mess. If Rick Wagoner is gone, why isn't the head of the union fired too? I think you're going to have to change it from U.S.A. to the good ole S.R.A. (Socialist Republic of America).

Rant Over.

and ....I called it right from the get go ....might wanna add more ketchup ..or salt or something

Well the naive, MTV(looks are everything) society we live in wanted this change(I sure as hell didn't). Now they're gonna find out that just because it's change doesn't make it better.

Don't feel bad.
I am hearing a lot of buyers remorce from people I work with about their vote for Obama.

They'll leave the name the same because it seems most people are too stupid to recognize socialism. They'll figure it out if they change the name. This way they still have their sheep.

Yupp he needs to go!

My dad is retired GM & put in 39.5 years mostly as a grinder operator for GM/UAW He is dealing with a world of health issues right now. As it is he pays out of pocket $100.00 for each doctor visit, I pay $30.00 & did not put in 39.5 years of service. Do I feel bad for him about his copay? Not really, He brings home over $4,000.00 per month as his retirement & can more than afford in imo.

The things about the UAW that bother me is the POS workers that the union protected while my dad worked & the Black Lake retreat they have here in michigan that cost the workers so much money!

The vote from the UAW & the poor got Obama elected, Looks as if the good UAW employees will be getting the shaft in the long run but the poor always vote Dumbacrat...... & always end up poor!

They guy who made the UAW strong http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Reuther

need any heavy truck Mechanics up there in Canada?

The UAW contributes to the dems. The UAW has always played the big3, the weakest one is threatened with a work stoppage that will weaken the company. When the UAW is done beating the weakest sister they then have a benchmark to beat up the other 2. Been goin on for years, normal business practice for any union with more than 1 employer. Seems to me the UAW is getting exactly what they been spreading. That being said I put the wife's dodge up for sale so I can buy her a ford that I will be able to get parts for. The unions had a place in the workplace years ago when employers could beat down employees at will. That is not the case anymore. Most of the people I know that are self employed used to be in union jobs. They got sick of redundant nepotism and not being rewarded for their personal efforts. They also make way more money working for themselves. This continent was founded on hard working pioneers not nepotistic people with a sense of entitlement. Trippple knew that already! So if I invest my money in a company why is it a sin to expect a return? I work my azz off for what I have! Glad to see your comin to your senses Trippple! Takes a large man to admit mistakes.

do you start at the rear of the bird and work your way forward? Or visa versa?

I'd love to shout TOLD YOU SO!! but It wouldn't matter any as the dmg has been done...

just thank your stars you didn't add to that dmg, since your Canadian an all :D

actully i over paid on my quaters and my company didn't have one of the best years so i'am just getting some of my money back. i don't see this year being any better

not that the union head is omitted from guilt, but it IS te company that offers the contract to the union, sets its salaried employees rates and bonuses and blows the bank on frugal spending. from the workers stand point, I, as much as them try to get every penny I think I am worth. I realize that if I cost my company $100 an hour I better put out $300 per hour of work, or I am a liability.....not an asset. the big 3, its workers and the rest of the country might want to think about that.

we are on our way back to paying what things are worth, not what sellers want:beer;

Um, wrong.
It is the employees that FORCE the company to pay more than they are worth. It is the unions that have caused it. You will pay me what I tell you to pay me or we will destroy your company. Then they go to the next company and say, see, they now make this much. WE are worth more than they are, so you will pay us more or we will destroy your company.
As has already been stated, they been doing it for years.

When an employee makes 30 dollars an hour to push a broom do you really think an upper manager is going to be willing to work for less?

The managers are trying to get what they can also. It's called greed, it not now nor has it ever been solely a management problem. THe workers are just as much to blame and the unions bare most of that. The unions drove the wages for all levels of pay within the auto industry and they will now sit back and watch as their efforts destroy everything.

Will the UAW take a hit for this?
Of cource not. The UAW bosses already have theirs, they could care less what happens from this point onward.

problem started back in the heydays of the 70's-80's maybe even 60's

problem is they turned into a huge machine that couldn't fluctuate with the markets, they plowed ahead taking massive losses with retirees soakin the company. Unions always went for more and more and never allowed any scale backs, now the market is crap but the companys can't devolve.

I think we always needs mechanics up here but they should work for themselves and out of their own garages for like 25-30 bucks an hour and not for stealerships that charge us $100 an hour.

Someone is dreaming. I dare anyone to try and operate a shop (no matter how small) and keep the lights and heat on at 25 to 30 an hour and make a living at the same time.

Excuse me while I keep laughing... :face-icon-small-con
