How long does a chain last on turbo's

I'm hearing different oppinions on how long to run a chain on a nytro with boost. Some people say change out every year whether it needs to be or not. Other people say why do that it doesn't need to be changed. What do all you guys think? Thanks for your oppinions.

My chain on my '03 RX-1mtn has 3400 miles on it and still looked good; 2300 of those miles are with the Stage 1 MPI Super Charger making 230HP @ 10 lbs of boost (according to their numbers). I replaced it this season though because....I used to do it every 3000 miles on my 2-strokers just to stay safe. Nothing worse than a chain grenading and busting the chain case all to H E L L.

change it at least every year,I got caught in the back country and now i carry a spare,snap ring pliers,and misc. tools,and i check my tension after every ride,cheap insurance,and i use to change it every year when i ran t-cats

I am very interested in this topic. Between two of us last year we lost three chains, we heard stuff about the bolt strength that holds the bottom gear on and the head snapping off. We heard that if you do not tighten the bolt on the gear prior to the set screw on the other side of the drive line you increase the chances of the bolt breaking the head off and destroying your chain.

I have heard that great care must be taken to shimm the gears so that they are in perfect alignment, with all this said and taking our sleds to the pros to replace the chains we lost three last season alone.

My gut tells me that every one of these issues is a potential factor and if you take real care to do everything right the first time and keep proper tension on the chain, the chains should last at least a season.

I am replacing mine right now because I am replacing my track and it just makes sense while it is all apart to do it now.

Every season

Change it every off season. Cheap and gives you a reason to work on the sled. Check the adjustment before every ride. Saves alot of backcountry headache. just mho

dealer bought in a team for me said yammi was to much money?i wonder is team good enough?

One of the chains we broke last year was an aftermarket chain but I do not know if it was a team brand or not.

The Yamaha chain looked stronger to us but it was twice as expensive and the dealer said the other chain was stronger.

I went with the Yamaha chain this year.

Hey guys, I'm just getting my first turboed Nytro this year, and used to ride a Doo ( I know its about time I made the switch). Anyway I have no clue what chain comes on these sleds, but I know with the Doo it only has a 13-link plate chain. Some guys change the top gear and go with a 15-link plate chain. this might also be an option when running boost on the Yamahas. What size of chain is used in the Nytros, is it 13 or 15 link plate?
the company that makes the upgrade for Doo is:

wow not sure what you guys do but 6000km on my chain all on boost looks like new.replace oil with synth once a year check tension once a month.i run 16-20lbs boost.was thinking of getting a new one this year.:rolleyes::beer;

I put 4400 km's on mine, swapped it out just because. IMO none of the aftermarket chains are any better, personally I think there worse. Yami one might be spendy, but she wont let go, even if abused. <---- Sounds like Fab's gimp in the closet LOL

How many link plate (how wide) is that stock chain on a Nytro, I can't seem to find it any where?
