Hey I'm wondering how kakwa is right now? We are planning to head up there on Jan 1. But haven't heard much on the snow conditions? Some one said they have very little snow, and the groomer hasn't even been in yet. Any one been there, or know how it is?

its not great yet, but if you do go, I want to remind you and anyone else out there pack out what you pack in, even smoke butts, no cutting trees, etc.

a friend of mine got a snow depth and at the boarder theres 12 ft. whether this is correct or not im not entirely sure but thats wat i heard man. We are planning on heading out the 29th and staying out there till the first.

There's a bit of snow but not much base as of last tuesday. The groomer was in too, but the trail is still rough as there's not really enough snow on the trail.

Was in on Saturday, groomer has not been to the lake yet only to the AB/BC boarder. There is just enough snow to have a some fun, still a little scary of what is under the snow, buddy busted up an a-arm.

O ok, thanks guys. yeah then I would like to wait a bit longer. Don't want to wreak anything. :) can't afford it. lol

If theres 12 feet, im 25 feet tall. If you pick your spots, you will not have any problems...take er easy on the trail in the usual spots as theres a bit of ice that can send you spinning off into the trees.

Was in there on Friday and Saturday. Saturday had maybe 12" of new snow. Covered our tracks from Friday. Was still snowing when we came out but it was great to let the kid boondock on Wumpum Lake. Never measured snow depth but my guess would be 4 to 5 feet at the cabins. It was a great ride! I only have two issues, Please pack out your beer cans guys, and you know who you are. The other is the guys who can't read a sign that says no snowmobiles. Dead Horse Meadows is a no no and yet you guys continue to ride right past the sign. Remember when they had a meeting about sledding out there and they shut quads out completely without any discussion. You just keep giving them ammo to shut us down totally without any discussion. It'll be a sad day if they close us out of there. My 2 cents

was in on the 28th, made it over flattop into pinnacle. flattop snow ( whats there) is like concrete. went over the bars once because of it. good snow though around the trees and into the creek at pinnacle. its about 4 feet shy of last year and you had to ride the rocks over flattop. worth it though once over cause no one has been in there. went again on new years day, not much more snow and the parking lot was -34. got to the cabin and it was -15 carried on past flattop on the trail about 8-10 miles ( no one out there either!) hit -2!. snow was sticking to the sleds but you could fly on that trail. 4 feet easy underneath you, never hit anything under the snow. but had to travel back into -28 weather soaking wet from the ride, not nice at all!

Sounds like it's not bad. We canceled, to cold, and to much avy danger right now. we'll come in a few weeks most likley.

We canceled the new years ride too. Too cold.

Whoever is heading up this weekend should be in for a good trip. Kakwa got quite a bit of fresh over the last few days and its supposed to be warm!! Watch out for avy danger guys! Hopefully the risk goes down once we get some warm weather to settle things a bit.

I'll be riding on the 16th so I'll post pics after that ride.

Lots of fresh snow yesterday, sore today from all the pulling. We rode cecilia creek almost to the lake and had a blast tracking up all the meadows. Was just below zero most of the day.

Was at kakwa Saterday Also.

Went into Leglace lake, snow was good lots of fresh stuff that hadn't been tracked up. Couldn't help but notice some serious slide activity. Kakwa lake also has some spots that are not frozen over yet, be careful out there guys and gals.

They must not have gotten that long cold snap out there.

Had a friend get burried by an Avy on Saturday. I would stay off any hills until the snow gets better guy's. Unless of course you are invicible and don't mind death by suffacation!!!!!!!!:eek::eek:

babette should be whomping and thundering like crazy too, saw a gnarly one in there this time last year, north end is scary!
