Out here I have a 30 mile drive straight into the high desert. The only traffic is what I pass while hitting the speed limiter on my truck. Back home near Detroit..... 3 freeways and a handful of side roads. 50 mile to get to Nissan Tech Center. All in all I sat in the car for over three hours every day just commuting.
I have no idea how many miles it is...never really checked or payed attention but, know im curious! takes me about 12-15mintutes in the morning and about 20-25mins to drive home..
the main place i work is about 41 miles one way. lately i have been traveling to the other office and it's 82 miles one way. but, company policy is if you have to travel to the office that's not your normal work place you get mileage AND paid while driving. it's nice. i make twice as much between travel and OT when i work at the other office cuz my boss wants me to put in a full 8 hours (at least) when i'm there.
30 miles each way. Same job for almost 20 years now. 35 min. to 1 hr. depending on traffic. For me it's worth it. I hate the city, so I drive to it for work. Stay away from it the rest of the time.
It's 20 miles from home to work so 40 miles a day isn't bad at all. Especially since I drive a company pickup. One important thing to consider about any commute is are you driving into the sun morning and evening? I'm fortunate that I drive west in the morning and east at night. The sun (and glare) is always at my back.
