How far is sledding from Coeur D'Alene?

From the main town, how far would you have to travel? How good is the sledding?

I'm looking into possibly moving there or Kalispell MT. I like Coeur D'Alene alot. Trying to weigh my options.:D

There is access to groomed trails and some good stuff at 4th of July pass about 20 mins on the interstate. About one hour to lookout pass (montana/idaho border) where there is great sledding. And a ton of other places within an hours drive. Great area!

Anywhere between CDA and Kalispell would be a perfect place to live  like Jayh said, 20 minutes unless you choose to live closer then the snow is out your back door, say from Kellogg or Wallace. What ya movin this way for? Where from? How good is the sledding, just about every aspect you would like, not any really steep chutes like McCall or Revy but decent pulls, great groomed trails and tons of back country off trail stuff.

make sure you bring your venture and hit bunco LOL

i'm just outside of cda..and there's good riding all over here, 4th of july, trestle creek, priest lake, burke, and i also ride just from my house..but it's not too extreme.

20 minutes isnt bad.

We are looking to move in the next year. With the economy the way it is, my business is struggling. My wife and I just had a little girl 13 months ago, we are tired of all the liberals and want to raise a family in an area where we can do the things we like to do. We were tied between seattle outskirts CDA, and Kalispell, but after some feed back from the guys on here from seatlle and some other things we have been hearing, we are dropping that off the list.

My biggest concern with Kalispell is jobs. Looks like CDA has much more jobs. Its a tough call. We have a year to figure it out, just tried to do my research.

What do you guys think? Kalispell or CDA? Would Sandpoint be a good option?

Thanks.:D

I know alot of guys were sledding until May this year. I even hit some trails late May, snow was spotty obviously, but its amazes me its even still around then. Depends on the year of course.

I wouldn't even consider Sandpoint in my opinion, won't fix your liberal problem. What is it you do? I work and live in CDA but am in Kalispell almost weekly. I would think CDA and Kalispell are real close in size and oppurtunity, I prefer CDA since Spokane is close and its always nice to have a larger city/town nearby, doesn't hurt the job market either. I don't see a huge upside to kalispell seeing that we have a lake(s) just as beautiful, great sledding, great state to live in etc...etc.

just so you know, you are not going to escape liberals anywhere in the west.
also cda has been booming, but it has bust lately. the economy here sucks just like it does anywhere in the country. There is a lot of unemployed constructions workers, escavators, developers etc. Not telling you not to move. But the reality of life is still here. the median wage in cda is $30,000.

there is some great sledding in north idaho or western montana. Kalispell is real similar to cda in alot of things, especially economy.

Good luck, move out, but be prepared to work to make it.

yeah, it makes me sad to think about it. Sandpoint used to be a nice place. When they put up that gay-pride-2-logs-humping BS in front of the courthouse I wanted to puke.

WTH?? I thought Idaho was one of the states against that kind of bs. either sandpoint is a mess or you guys dont want me moving there.

what was and what is and 2 different things. Idaho is still one of the most conservative states in the country. But the country is not very conservative.
There is no place where you can escape people.

Don't you have to be missing a tooth in front to be allowed to live in CDA/Spokane? Chew some skoal or redman and drink nothing stronger than bud lite long necks?.....

just kidding.....I like that area a lot. I think it's a better choice than the seattle area for cost of living and all around quality of life.

bud light, busch light or natural light a pair of worn out carharts and you are good to go. Who drinks that sissy mirco brew anyway. It is hard to drink beer from morning until midnight with those fancy can't see thru beers.

am i teasing or not?
