How excited do you get the night/day before sledding?

Watched some sled vids last night!

Sometimes I wet myself. I get to sleep in while my sledding brothers get to navigate the traffic on I70 then show up on the hill at 8am and ride, ride, ride.

I usually arrive at the cabin at around midnight and by the time I have the cabin warm enough to sleep in its time to hit the hill. I think I feel like I do all summer I freak out till its time hard to sleep and dreaming of the next days snow.:)

I've never been able to sleep the night before going sledding. And I'm the type that loves to sleep in. One of my favorite things to do on my day off is shut that alarm off and just sleep in. On sledding days I'm usually staring at the clock waiting to get up. I remember one time I was getting my stuff ready the night before a trip and I couldn't find the maps of the area we were going to ride so I called my buddy to see if he had one..... and I woke him up! Granted it was 11:45 at night and he was going to be picking me up at 5:30am the next day but still. How can you sleep the night before at trip??? I sure can't!!

can't sleep real well either the night before because of the excitement and the paranoia that I have forgot to pack something like my boots, saw or earplugs. I like getting all loaded and gased up the night before pulling out of my driveway. I also have gotten into the habit of a major breakfast so I can pack/eat a light lunch up on the hills.

same here. leave at 5 pm drive all night 16hrs. unload sleds get breakfest and go riding all day. then take a nap.

sleep fine.

bigbull has to drink pepto to calm himself down on the way to the hill.

I only ride locally, so I sleep pretty good, in the morning I just get dressed, go out into the garage start the sled and drive straight from there, if we get a good dump of snow I'm usually trying to carve down the driveway.

I use to get so excited that in the middle of the night I would puke and feel fine in the morning. I guess I just got a lot of butterflies in the stomach and they wanted out bad.

I sleep like f**king log. It's the only time I do. Any other time of my life I use Ambien to get to sleep and have for a year now. The night before sledding is good.

After 41 years of sledding......not so much. Don't sleep worth a crap most nights, but that's not because of sledding. Hmmmmm......bad back, bad neck, bad knees.....maybe it "IS" because of sledding! Now if my son's going out the next day to pull some nasty chute.....that's when I get excited!

I could never sleep the night before. A couple years ago we all found out that none of were sleeping the night before. So we started leaving at night. Pack gear and clothes the night before. Then get off work, load sleds, get fuel and food and hit the road. I usually drive and everyone else sleeps. By the time I start getting tired, we are about 2/3 the way there, then the Metallica starts playin on the ipod. That wakes everyone up!!lol Grab breakfast on the way through town and hit the hill. That first smell of 2 stroke is way better than NoDoz!!!

We usually take a couple weekend trips each year also. On those trips we leave Friday night. Ride all day Saturday. Sleep in motel. Ride till 5 on Sunday and hit the road for home. 13 hours each way. Get home in time to get breakfast and head to work. Work that whole week sucks but its worth it for a gerat weekend riding.

Not the only one

Well I am glad I found out I am not the only that doesn't get any sleep. The night before the trip is not planned and I am fixing sleds, more like useless tinkering cause I am too excited. If it is snowing I will grab a lawn chair and sit in the yard in the snow to prepare myself for the climate. I am Jonesing to go this year bad have the sledding dvd's in the dvd player in the truck on the way to work, picking up the kids, lunch, I notice I drive slower while trying to drive and watch the dvd's. I can barely sleep now, I live on this site, don't post much but do a lot of reading. Did I mention I am ready to go!

Well, lets see. Walk to the bar, drink and tell lies with all the other BSers stumble back to the cabin wake up at the crack of 9:00 flounder around for an hour and walk to sled and go ride. Repeat process day after day. Sleep is no problem.
