ok so i was lookin around at some pics of mod sleds and i was wondering... how the heck can a guy dump say $30,000 into a full blown mod sled. thats how much some people make in a year. not trying to be nosie but some of those sleds area gold mine! i dont see how someone can be able to build some of the sleds i have seen lately without bein in debt up to their eye balls. you guys got good paying jobs, priorities very understanding women or what lol? whats the method to the madness? some of the mod sleds i have seen on here are truely works of art! hats off to all you guys! i work my butt off all summer long to play in the winter since im still in school but one day i hope i can be financially independent enough to be able to build my dream sled and post pics of it on here! so lets hear it guys! how are you able to build some of these beauties?

Lots of college and years and years of hard work!;) I also live by the philosophy that I don't and won't buy my toys on credit!

agreed with SS. cash only for toys and mods. There is no substitute for hard work either. it always pays off. I also had years of my life w/o a sled while I worked to buld my business. that hurt!!! :) I have to say, have a goal, and you do, and it will happen!!!

That has worked for everything in my life (except a centerfold)

I don't have near as much money into my sled as some guys do and if I wasn't single and literally renting a room in a farm house there's no way I'd even be able to have the money into it I have now ...

I dunno, I figure if I do everything to my sled I want to I'll have about $18,000 into it ...

But yeah I rent a room in a farm house to be able to afford to sled and I'm still freakin' broke hahahah :D

look for deals on certain things save your pennies :) i work and save im 20 out of college now own 3 sleds if it's your passion you will find a way to get the money but most people that have 30,000 sleds are also 35+ years old usually and own there own business or are up the ranks in a company

How?

1.) Work hard!!!! Most people only focus on what they want to Have...Rarely think about what they have to DO to get what they want to Have...and even less focus on who they need to BE to DO what is needed to HAVE what they want...

2.) A wonderful wife makes all the things you have worth having, and those wonderful little boondockers in training make it even more fun!!!

3.) Did we mention work hard?

Immediately out of school, started my own businesses...raised the money...did that routine for 10+ years...in wonderful sledding locales like Austin Texas, Los Angeles, Tennessee, etc. etc.

VERY few of us got here by accident, and even fewer of us got here by trust funds....

Hopefully when you make money, you dont have to feel like me and fight yourself to make a decision.

I own my own business and make good money. I am going to buy one this year, but man, I feel like im getting the rip off of a life time. I guess I have had to make the best decisions possible to get where I am and now im gonna blow 16-20K. But it sucks. why cant it be 5K. I mean, I have no prob. spending 250K for a dozer or something that could make me money, but spending over 100.00 for something that doesnt, drives me nuts. I guess I look back at the hard times getting where I am now and how selfish a desision this is. but oh well. gotta have fun right?

Anyway. If you want to make money bad enough, you will. If it is a sled you want, you can find a way to get it. just like someone else said. set a goal and get-r-dun!

like stated above, most people don't realize that you have to work hard to achieve something. they look at the mod sleds and think those guys must have it easy and make tonnes of cash that is just floating around. Lots of people ask how i do it, and I tell them to get off there arse and find a way. where there's a will, there's a way. bottom line.

guys wonder where I get all my money and how I have a 30000 dollar sled. here's an example of how I do it. from september to december of last year, with the canadian dollar the way it is, a buddy and I imported from the states to canada 58 plus snowmobiles and resold them. I basically was able to pay off my sled (not mods but sled) with the money I made on the sales of these sleds. it was 3-4 months of having a phone to my ear, paper work, and a very understanding wife with something that took so much of my time up that made this possible. would I do this particular activity again, probably not. it took too much of my time, but in 3 months made enough to pay for a sled. it's cool not owing nothing on my sled, but man it was alot of work. I find stuff like this all the time to pay off my dirty habits(hobbis that is) just be creative and ready to take a calculated chance and work your arse off. Some guys have better paying jobs that make it easier to afford this stuff, but they work their butts off.

I had to wait till I was 30 to buy my first sled due to lack of funds.
so consider yourself lucky.
one thing I learned over the years is that smart people don't borrow money for toys. and also, BUY USED! the same 45k sled will be worth 15k in a just a few short years.

Gotta go to school. I have only had one job that required my degree but there is more to it than that. There has been times in my life that I wasn't sure if I was going to make the mortage...But now I pretty much have what I want. Work your ars off in EVERYTHING you do and it will pay off.

I was also a DINK(Double income no kids) for 8 years. Paid off all my school debt and started my business before the kids came. School loans are hard enough but add a kid or two and your asking for trouble!!!

Keep your priorities in check!! Honestly every dollar I spend I think in the back of my head that could be a mod, day on the lake, weekend out of state sledden..... Don't piss your money off of stupid chit and you will have more than you think!!!

DOGMEAT aren't you working the PATCH??? I call BS on you being broke;) If I was single I would be in Wyoming working the PATCH!!!!

OH ya wear a helmet!!

awsome advice!

Very wise words indeed!

X2! lol thanks for all the awsome advice guys! i know if you want something and are willing to work hard you can get it...maby not right away but it will come. that is why i worked 12-14 hrs days 7 days a week all summer working on a ranch and it sucks but i put all my money away and bought my first REAL sled this fall. the hours sucked but it was all worth it. kind of funny when i think about it but my truck is worth less than my sled lol. i guess as long as you are willing to work hard and have a good work ethic good things will be will come to you in life. ill keep alot of this awsome advice in mind guys! thanks alot! this fall i ill be going to UM tech and taking the heavy equip. school so i will be applying all this good advice (not that i havnt applied some of it already). keep it cummin guys! thanks!
cheers:D:beer;

Truck is worth less than your sled, huh?

Sounds familiar. Actually my quad is worth more than my truck and my sled. And guess what gets the least amount of use. That's right, my 4 wheeler. Sounds pretty smart to me.
