How do I get to drive a groomer?

I am interested in driving a groomer and I was wondering how you get into something like this? Are any of you a groomer in western WA? Any chance you wanna let me ride along some night?

Join a club!

Join a club in an area that grooms. Put in your volunteer effort to help with stuff that the club does (marking trail, clearing brush, etc). Show that you are committed and responsible, then express your interest in grooming. I'm sure they'll jump at the chance to have more grooming assistance once they are comfortable with you.

I've only been grooming two seasons, and here in MN that means not much! But I have learned a bunch about it and have a new appreciation for what goes into it. It takes a bunch of work and constant attention to detail, at least on our trail system. I'm sure some wide open trails on RR beds and such get pretty monotonous, but not ours. I've really grown to like grooming now. I would rather climb in the groomer for 8-10 hours than hop on a sled for a couple hour trail ride. You get to see a lot of stuff at a slower pace and you're always watching, thinking, working through how to adjust the drag and blade to make the trails as nice as possible.
