How are you suckers doing on the west side? The riding here's great!!!!

:)

We our riding friends that were supposed to join us can't get here either, so you aren't the only ones.

Don't be too jealous though had to dig out twice yesterday.

Spent all day yesterday on the snowblower and shovel at both the house and cabin. I think we're approaching the amount of snow we had here in 1996? At the lake, when I dug to bare ground, the snow was up to my waist, over my head where it slid off the roof.

Maybe get time to ride today?

Yup...been here in cle elum for the past 4 days...15 inches yesterday, 12 before that...rode all day yesterday in chest deep powder...all by ourselves...it was creepy and magnificent how few people were over here for new years riding...hardly saw another machine all day...going home today to rest and recharge for later this week!

Don't be careless

Boys, I know these are some of the better dumps we have had this year, but keep in mind that the avy danger is still considerable to high...if you have been out in avy terrain and haven't triggered one yet, you have been lucky. We are getting enough snow to bridge the very deep, very weak layer that allowed the accidents to happen earlier in the week...this condition is going to lead you to believe that things are stabilizing, but the fact is that slides will still go on the deep layer which will result in very large, destructive slides. The scarcity of snow up until now has got people amped to get out and that's ok, just remember that this is the same snowpack that killed twelve people in the west a few days ago...only there is more snow to slide now.
If you haven't yet, read my other threads in this forum: Not a Washington snowpack and Avy Danger ratings.

Check the NWAC report and be safe out there.

Woods and Steele 1/2

I thought everything would be torn up by today. NOT!

Getting up Woods and Steele from 4517 and the power lines was hell with bumps the whole way. Doing WS from the gate to the playground by 114 was enough to kill your kidneys. We left the playground and continued towards windy pass loop.

We hit untouched virgin POWDER!!! It was awesome we continued to the rest area about half way to the next gate by that sharp left turn. As we were eating a slew of skidoos went by. Damn they tore it up good.

We all got to hicks butte and could only go to the big turn at the peak where it goes around the back and had to stop. The drifts were about 7 feet deep and we did not have the energy to fight through, even though we were tempted.

So we looped back to 114 and went down to Taneum Creek and right at the four way intersection. We went up to where it splits right to go to windy pass loop and instead went left along the creek.

Again we hit virgin POWDER that was waist deep we continued until we were all exhausted and looped back.

This was the BEST snow ever and we got to break trail the whole time!!! 47 miles in one day with mostly virgin powder.

To top it off on the way down ws the groomer had just gone through. Perfectly smooth ride down to just before the gate when we caught up with the groomer. We gave him high fives for making the day that much more perfect.

Friend who stuck his skidoo and his wife rescuing him. It was deep.

Heading to Hicks Butte. Time to break trail.
