Hey guys. I just got a 08 800 146 summit. I have did some moderate hill climbing and when I was checking my belt for wear, I felt my primary clutch face, and it was too hot to touch.
Does this mean my engine is either a)reaching to high of RPM's, or b) not reaching optimum RPM's at WOT?
I am currently on clicker 3, riding from sea level to 2500, with stock pin weight, and the 377 belt. I can't say for sure, but by looking at the needle tach, I would say max rpm is 8200-8300.
Should I be worried about the clutches being hot, am I right in thinking that he heat is a byproduct of inefficiency. Could this be caused by misalignment?
BTW, the sled performs great, it has far surpassed my expectations.I'm sorry if I've posted this concern over something that is not a real concern. This is the first sled I've bought myself, and I've worked so hard for 4 years to get it. I can't count the # of lawns I've mowed and loads of wood I've cut, split and packed in to help pay for this sled.
Thanks, Nick
