Horizontal Propane Tank Help...

I have a horizontal propane tank for my trailer. I have mounted it between the axles up out of the way. I wanted to set it up with a remote fill, bleeder and gauge. The problem is they are about $180 which for me is a bit spendy. Has anyone made a remote fill? I need some ideas...I might relocate the tank to the edge of the trailer but would rather do the remote fill.

On another note do you typically pipe the tank in yourself to the heater inside or should I go to a plumber? I'm relatively skilled but a little nervous with propane.

Thanks in advance for the help!

the $$ from the remote fill is all the big arse brass fittings for an automotive style filler(which i assume it has) the parts just by themselves come really close, then you have to peice it together. the big brass male and female adapters for just the main fill line are about $50 apeice. your at $100 already, hose is around $10, then you gotta run the smaller line, bang, your there in parts.

from playing with lots of propane stuff on my own, i have found certain things are worth just having done for you... especially if you arent comfortable around propane.

lots of the parts you need on there, but again, unless your familiar with the stuff, its easy to waste a lot of time, and money getting the wrong parts!

So how does the remote fill work? Does it have a line that goes to a convenient spot on the side of the trailer for refueling?

yeah, its a pair of lines that attach to your filler inlet, and a remote mount on the bleeder, this way they can just hook to it and fill. they mount them on the side of the trailer, so its like having the tank mounted right to the edge so you dont have to crawl underneat, etc to fill it. very nice thing to have.

Thanks for the input...I'm thinking of moving the tank to the front of the trailer under the V (opposite of the door). Then build a metal cage around it for protection.
