Hood Intake Tricks

Anybody remove the intake on the bottom of the hood apart? Adding some additional intakes & a powair and wanted to take the piece off to clean any shavings. There are multiple tabs that are hard to get apart and hoping someone has a trick to it.

I had to replace my hood last year. If I remember right there weren't any screws just those phony push rivets. Upholstery shops have a tool that looks like a gasket scraper with a V in it to pull them out or You just have to pry on them with a screw drive and pull hard. They will come out but they are kind of a PITA.

I will double check on it tomorrow morning as I am replacing my bumper and will look at the hood again.

Heat it up really hot with a hair dryer or something and gently use a screwdriver.

Pulling the push pins out is not the problem. There only 3 of those but 15 or so of the molded in darts that are hell to get back through the holes.

I gave up and just will cut the holes I need and clean out the shavings the best I can.

i pulled mine apart. just lightly pryed on it and it popped apart. Never broke anything. Removed the 2 baffles in there and installed four 2" flow rites in the dash.

I have had mine apart a couple times it is kind of a pita just use a small screwdriver and pry apart I think there might be a couple screws in the front also

I put a couple FrogzSkin discs on the dash of my '11 and I thought it looked like an awful lot of work to take the airbox off so I just drilled the holes and stuck a vacuum hose inside the airbox and shook the hood until it didn't rattle anymore. I'm confident I got all the shavings out.
