Curious to what everyone thinks of a used set of WE shocks. My are none rebuildable so I was thinking of buying a used set. Are they junk or are they a good shock. Would buy new i just am not sure how long im going to have my sled. I think they are a 2008 set THANKS for any info. I mean Walker evans. Sorry about the WA

They are lightweight and simple. Lack adjustability but work for what the RMK Dragons were intended for...deep snow.

Are they the stock 08 WE Dragon shocks? Those are definately rebuildable. They can be revalved and you can have the internal pressure adjusted for your weight and riding style. I had good luck with the WE's that came on my 07 D7, lightweight and held up great, just needed to add pressure from the 07 stock configuration. I decided to upgrade last season and went to dual rate coil-overs with 16 position clickers.

What is your impressions on the upgrade to the 16 position clickers?

It really depends on your expectations and what your riding style is like.

If you are looking to air out the sled every chance you get, there are certainly better shocks for you to spend your money on. It also depends on what you are paying for them.

They are great shocks in powder, they are light, they handle transition very well, allow easy side hilling, etc.

What they lack is the ability to handle big drops, lots of jumping, a beat up road with a lot of bumps, etc. If you are a big guy, they will certainly need to be re-valved to get them to work for you.

I love the WE Dragon shocks in the powder. But I like to jump and do drops, and they certainly lack here. Not bad in the deep snow for jumping/dropping but when you get in more setup conditions, spring snow, etc they are too soft.

Hopefully that helps.

I replaced the stock walker evans on my assualt with fox floats that i had custom valved by carles cycle, i would never even consider going back to the walkers, The improved ride and handling was well worth the money IMO

These are not the same shocks the the OP was asking about. The Assualt WE are just the opposite of the Dragon WE shocks.

Dragon WE = soft

Assault WE = VERY Stiff (too stiff)

Handling on the Dragon WE are good, you just can't huck the sled.

IMO, for the average rider, they are fine. Other than they need to be rebuilt a little to often.
For the very extream rider they are way to soft, as stated above. They wash out on very steep sidehills, and throw you up the hill, AHHH,, then you cuse alot. I have stuck it out with them since 08, just because Im to cheap to buy a better shock. Once you get on a sled with the fox evol, or other high dollar shock, you will be pissed for not spending the money and upgradeing.
Milehigh has hit it on the head.

I've felt my dragon shocks are great. As mentioned they're awesome in powder, feels like they match the chassis for handling perfectly, and I can go fast on long bumpy access roads without losing handling. I don't huck, so I can't comment on that.

I just wish they had a boot to protect the aluminum shaft from getting nicked by debris.

Well thanks for the replies. What i am hearing they are definetly better than my stock 08 nonrebuildable rydes. How would you compare the ride stock 08 rydes vs stock 08 WE off a dragon. The rydes are off an rmk. And whats the price to revalve them. THANKS

I did not like my my stock W.E. air on my 09 D8---- to soft and can't change on the spot. The W.E. needles I put on I like very much, and did not notice the added weight.

They aren't bad. They're comfortable and take 50' drops with ease but I'm no more than 160 with gear on. Probably too soft if you weigh more than 170 in riding gear. I haven't had them rebuilt in a season and a half either. Just store it with no weight on the front end and they won't go flat

If you end up buying them, call John at Walker Evans Racing and he'll recharge them and "bring them up to '10" specs for free. He put new seals in mine and they are a big improvement for my 9 over the stock rebuildable Ryde F/X's.

I think they are fine as long as they are holding a charge and do their job. Polaris and W/E had some initial issues with the dragon sleds and after a while they would sag or not have very much extension on them. I was one of those. Instead of saying they are junk and throwing my toys all over the place I looked around and found Fabcraft. Had them modify them and put the resevoirs on the front two and the front track shock, different orfice and or piston, it's been a while and away we went. I'm running on 3 years now and they are as extended as when they were first sent to me, they are a bit quick on the rebound though which in all purposes is better then slow.

I wouldn't hesitate buying them, I would probably add the stuff I did above though. It's not too expensive either.
