Holy Cross Powder Hounds End of Season Ride

Ski Cooper Ride Update

Wow, we are getting pounded with snow. Looks like this ride could be "epic"! Our club members got an email update on the food and I thought I would share with others interested in going.

The Holy Cross Powder Hound members will have their lunch provided for them. The Leadville club will be cooking up the lunch and our club will pay for our members. The money is going to the Leadville club scholarship fund. Lunch will consist of brats, cheeseburgers, cookie, chips and a drink. If you are not a member, the cost for the meal is $8. You don't have to buy a lunch if you are riding tomorrow.

You will be able to sign up or renew as a Holy Cross Powder Hound member for $30 on Saturday. This is a $5 discount. Next year it will be back up to $35. We can take checks or cash, no credit cards (you can do that online though).

If you are new to this ride, most people just break off into groups and ride where they want. If you don't know where you are going or need to jump in a group, there will be plenty of people to group up with. DBook posted a map of the area. You can pretty much ride the whole mountain. Most guys work their way back toward Chicago Ridge where the hill climbs are.

Look forward to seeing everyone. Bring a friend and join the club, we need the numbers for the land management battles we are facing!

Also anyone that is interested I have 10 pairs of HaberVision goggles. I need to get rid of them and have them marked WAY down.

Highline Gold Flash $150 regular. I sell for $75 regularly (plus tax). Tomorrow they will go for $50 and I have the tax covered.

I have other models as well.

I also encourage everyone else to bring any sleds, or parts they are trying to get rid of.

Sounds like fun have a great ride!...despite the blizzard!

Great ride, best powder day of the year for me. Thanks to everyone that organized this and for extending the invitation! Thanks to those that showed me around and for digging me out a couple of times.

Please post pics of the ride, some of us had to work and others don't have sleds that made it through the whole year (me). LOL.

We had a great time and those 2-moto bikes are a kick in the pants to ride.

Now, on to another pressing issue. The more I think about it, the more pizzed off I get. While the 4 of us (Mule, XC700116, Dogmeat and myself) were loading up some skinny little punk was zipping around on a black and yellow RT1000 that was disturbingly loud! We were standing there at the front of the trailer and he deliberately veered towards us and hammered the throttle deafening all of us, my ears are still ringing. First, that was uncool! Second, it's fuktards like that who are creating the issues with the anti-snowmobilers that we have. Third, a loud sled DOES NOT MAKE HORSEPOWER! Fourth, if I ever see that kid again I will personally rip him off that sled, rip his helmet off, hold his head by the exhaust and hold that throttle wide open until his frigging ears bleed. If any of you know who that punk was, make him get a silencer. Next year the USFS is going to be enforcing a law regarding decibel range. I spoke with several rangers and they WILL issue a citation for the first offense. I am all for this and so are most of the other riders that I know.

Sorry for the rant but I cannot stand being disrespected like that by another rider, I cannot stand the lack of respect for the very sport that he was enjoying. He may not understand that LOUD sleds are very damaging to our pastime.

So, if this kid is a Holy Cross or Leadville club member, straighten his azz out and educate him!

Rant over!

Yeah, whoever that dude was ... he was the epitome of a parking lot cowboy ....

complete idiot ...

Not running the sled with a silencer, WOT up and down the road people were walking up and down and trying to load/unload, the dumb sh!t wasn't even wearing a helmet ...

But other than that, thanks for having us out, that was kinda fun running WOT up a ski run today :) ... Wish the visibility would have been better in the morning heh :)

Sorry I broke the KTM :(

Good time and a good turn out of people. We never got to ride on the back side of Chicago ridge because of the weather. But we all blasted the hell out of the front side!

I have pictures and I'll try and get them up tomorrow. Thanks everyone for coming.

I know of who he is and he is not a club member.

Sorry I broke the KTM

What did you do? I saw it getting pulled down the hill. It was fun riding that thing. I probably wouldn't fork out the dough, but it was a good time.

hey fellers sorry I didn't make it today, my buddies ride broke down yesterday and he was my ride up to cooper............ needless to say it was probably a great powder day........ snowed a foot here today............ hope you all had fun today!!!!!!!!!!!

Please explain to him that he needs to grow up. Hope I never see that little bastage again. That chit eating grin he had on when he buzzed us was enough for me to pass on giving him a second chance.

Thanks for the good times and I was bummed that the weather sucked.

Other than over-revving it, I have no idea ... I started up the hill and had it wrapped out in 1st and was trying to shift up into 2nd, hit neutral instead, tried to slam it back into 1st then it died and I couldn't get it started again

Fun ride, right up to the point I hit a 2 ft x 2ft x 4ft concrete block under the snow up on the hill where 2 trails merge about 300 yards from the main chair lift.
Wiped out the left side of my sled. my question is this....what the hell is it doing there? why wasn't it marked? and why was I the only one to hit it? just lucky I guess:(

Any way, good to see you guys again hope i can get fixed quick and back on the trails and hills:)

SKYJMPR (Nick) has some good pics of the ride he will post for us:beer;
