I know thread already exists, but I made a new one so I can put in my pic and modify the details.

This is going to be a great ride! With all the snow we have seen in the last week, and some of the forecasted snow, the hill climbing on Chicago ridge is going to be wicked! This ride always brings a lot of people and good weather. Every year we line up the sleds and drag race and hill climb for good fun. Come check it out. You don't have to be a member, but we would love to add you to the club. If you sign up to join the club (or renew) at Ski Cooper, the price is only $30.

TPT Racing will have their snow converted dirt bikes there for people to demo! Grab a friend and come play. Join the club, we need the numbers, even if you don't participate in club meetings and activities.

The resort will be closed from that day (April 4th) for the season. There is a ton of parking, that won't be a problem. We park at the base of the ski hill and we have the entire skier parking lot. Let me know if you have any other questions/concerns.

Coming from Denver is it better to take Hwy 91 down from Copper Mtn. or 24 from Vail?

I'd come over Freemont pass (hwy 91) into Leadville (just before) and then up to Tennesee Pass and Ski Cooper. That way you avoid the skier traffic.

Hotels should be cheap in Leadville. Avoid the Vail Valley as it will likely still be pricey, and a lot longer drive while you are drunk.

This is the fist I have heard of this and it sounds like a blast! You can count me in!

Question:
Me and my buddy’s lady friends would like to come party and hang out. We were thinking that we'd give them a ride up the hill to sled, tube and/or ski down. Does anyone else do this? How safe would this be? Does it get so chaotic with snowmobiles rippin around that it's not worth the risk?

We also talked about bringing the dogs.

Having never partaken in this before, I have no idea how busy it gets, or what it's like up there... Any feedback would be great.

I asked one of the organizers and she suggested no boarders or skiers. Have some teenagers that I was going to shuttle up the slopes, but it's a no go.

I don't see why you cannot tube or ski downt he hill. Two years ago a guy went up with a Blazer with rubber tracks and trashed the place. The main hill is very large and you should be able to ski or tube. Ski Cooper is closed and they don't even have any people working there.

I'm not sure about the dogs. I'm a dog lover, but it sucks when someone can't control their dog and it just begs for food and hits the trash. I think dogs are OK as well, but I can check into it for you if you like.

It's snowing and a white out right now. I'm hoping it clears up for Saturday, but I can tell you that the snow should be great. I was told there is 18" fore casted before this weekend. This is a fun ride.

Did this last year and had a blast. Chicago Ridge is fun and on the back side of the hill there is some fun areas. Wish I was still in CO I would go back this year.

Thanks for the info! I thought there might be a fun place out of the way and off on the side that we could find that would be safe to play.

I wouldn't even think of bringing the dogs if they were not so well behaved. They're used to social gatherings like parties, ice fishing and camping. I agree that it sucks when people bring untrained dogs that run ramped and get into stuff. Either way if our girlfrinds and others don't come to hang, then we'll leave them at home. I'd hate to have them just stay in the truck all day.

I can't wait! This is going to be so much fun, especially with all the snow that they've gogtten!
