We lost our lake house to flooding.
Always a possibility living near water, which is why we had flood coverage.
It should not be a complete surprise to have avy damage when you live at the base of a mountain in snow country. Again, it's why we carry insurance.
We certainly do not need any type of government intervention/protection.
They have enough things to F up right now.
I totally agree in general on the government involvement thing....but avalanche rating is just kinda the norm, in BC anyways. Highways, logging roads, developments, etc, all have to be rated if people are working or living near a slope like that.
I only mentioned it because it sounded like they were trying to blame the snowboarders. Even if they triggered it, they are not the "cause" IMO.
