Has any one had good luck with these boots, looking at getting some new ones and thought they looked pretty good with the speed lacing and all. Let me know what you think.
It takes a while getting used to the fact that you can’t bend your ankles when maneuvering the sled. I fell off the sled a lot on the first few rides. Now I am used to them and love them.
The speed lacing really doesn’t save you any time but your laces never get loose and they are always laced perfect. I have a bad ankle that usually hurts after every ride and with these boots the pain is a lot less and they give me more confidence. Also the tread on the boots is awesome.
i got 400 miles on mine and love them. never have to worry about boots coming untied. when i first got them i was going to put them on swapmeet for sale. they were very stiff and noisy but have loosend up considerably. contact snowday he will set you up.
do they keep your feet dry? i have a pair of the original hmk's, pry 7 seasons on them and they seem to have sprung a leak somewhere. have really loved the hmk boots and products but am thinking of maybe trying some klims this time around. thoughts?
I am on my second pair. I love them. Bad ankles so the support is GREAT !!! The only thing i dislike is that they are not vented very well. You really need to dry them good after every ride or they will start to stink pretty fast.
My feet are really bad about being cold, the rating on the boots is -50 does this hold true or not, and by drying them out every ride can a guy just dry the liner on boot dryers or does the whole boot become wet? Just want to be sure this is the boot for me before I fork out that kind of cash.
Third season on my pair have worn them in -40 to +20 seem to work great. Only complaints is the soles are stating to get chewed up pretty good, had to get the toe sown back together after only one season and they need to breath better feet get sweaty fast.
Ankle support is awesome. But mine last about 3 rides before the soles and every other seam in the boot starts coming apart. They said it's my fault. I don't know, I just ride in them. If you ride in any amount of powder do yourself a favor and stick your feet in a bucket of water before you leave the truck. That way they will be used to being soaked by the end of the day
I have about 14 rides on my Boa's and haven't had a wet foot yet! I love the BOA system/ Laces are just to much of a pain. Mine never stayed tied and always had ice dingleberries on them!
I just looked at the soles of my boots and I am really impressed with how little of "wear and tear" I have! I do have the Better Boards and therefore do a whole lot less of kicking the snow off than in the past, so maybe that is part of it.
Rode 5 straight days of 3' plus of Revy powder and had dry feet the whole time................
As far as drying them? Most of the time I throw mine on a boot dryer just because that is the "place" for them. But when on the road, in hotels, they dry just fine w/o the boot dryer.
I've been wearing HMK boots for about 6 seasons now and my feet have NEVER EVER been cold. Even with water inside (due to being in a creek) my feet were warm.
I wear a thin Smartwool sock with them and I bought them 2 sizes to big. Too tight of boots isn't good.
If you tend to have dry feet then these boots will be great for you. If you tend to have sweaty feet then these will aggravate the situation, I tend to have sweaty feet. I agree with Sawyer on the wetness, I can actually wring sweat out of my socks at the end of the day. I know my boots don’t leak because I have filled the bathtub up part way and stuck the boots in there for a couple of hours.
I have ridden the last 2 years with the Pro Boa LE. It has the best liner for ankle support I have worn and it's a stiff boot overall. I had Klim boots from 4 or 5 years ago and I like the fit of the HMK much better.
I love mine other then the bottoms seem pretty soft and sure take a sh!t kicking from kicking the running boards ive already started to wreck the lucks on the bottom
As others have said, i wear very thin socks and feet are very warm. However feet are soaked at the end of the day from sweat! No breathing at all. I love mine for the support and laces. Sweaty foot is better than a frozen foot i guess...
